What a great tapas bar - step in the door and you step into Catalan. Nice selection of tapas at the bar at a good price. Want more, larger portions? There is a nice menu also. Excellent service rounds out the experience.

I was visiting Amsterdam on business and this restaurant was close to my hotel. As I arrived late I didn't check for good local restaurants but ended up here as it looked busy and looked a good atmosphere. Other local restaurants were either full or empty and I never trust an empty restaurant. However, choosing this one as it was... More

we are very sorry you couldn't enjoy your meal at our well known 21 years old famous Tapas Bar. The meal you had was definitely not well prepared and presented but this is not an excuse for dropping in late to eat near closing time !!! we hope you dares to visit us once again and test the real thing.... After we had diner we decided to crash down in this place and was definetly not a mistake. We decided to get ourself the Crema Catalana which is a dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a contrasting layer of hard caramel. My friend had himself a coffee liqueur while i had myself a cappuccino and we thoroughly... More

Excellent spot to stop after a stroll at Spuistraat. Good food , the pan con tomates and the fried calamari were very good , together with a spanish red wine made me and my wife forget the time . Ask for a table outside and let the time goes by.... We felt as we were in Barcelona , the staff... More

landed here by accident, attracted by the smell, and the fact that most of the diners were Spanish. It was like being carried back to Catalonia. Tiny space, crowded, noisy, friendly, lively. Had a wonderful evening, came out reeking of garlic and red wine. Two of us shared the mixed fish platter, and a big bowl of spinach, with a... More

This is a small cosy tapas bar run by a friendly crew of Spanish blokes. We've eaten tapas in various parts of Spain and England and this is one of the best. The seafood was of a particularly high standard and the spinach with pine nuts was delicious. There was a lovely atmosphere in there as well. Highly recommended.

Just walked by here one night in Amsterdam and very glad we did. Top of the line Tapas in the heart of Amsterdam. Sausage & Pulpo were amazing. Ended up eating there again on our last night because it was too good. Service was excellent the first time, on the second it was crowded and we had 4 people -... More

If you feel a sudden craving for very good tapas and a couple of glasses of user-friendly Spanish wine, where would you go? Not the most tourist-ridden part of Amsterdam, for sure? Wrong! Try Català. The food is good, the service is alert and friendly, and the place is quite affordable. Need a bit of rest after a bout of... More
