Simple menu with interesting combinations of food in the one main course. However, the combinations work and the portions are big. Really good flavours of freshly made food.

We were staying in a lovely hotel near the Rijksmuseum and this restaurant was a short walk from the hotel. It was necessary to book it, as it was full up on the first night that we tried. I am not surprised why after eating there. The food is great. The atmosphere was also nice. Not super formal, but not... More

We went a while ago during a really really cold month of April. Place is really nice and the ambience perfect for a romantic dinner. The place is vegetarian so menu was really great. All the dishes were excellent and really tasty. But for me the best dish was dessert. Some banana cream pie with ice cream. A must if... More

We sought this restaurant out as we always like to find good veggie restaurants when abroad. We weren't disappointed at all. A lovely restaurant with friendly, attentive staff and above all gorgeous food. We had three courses; I had a starter of fennel soup and my fiance had chick pea fritters, both were very tasty, particularly the soup; for mains... More

I sat outside De Waaghels on a warm summer evening in this quiet district with several restaurants and cafés. It's modern cuisine carefully prepared and served in a friendly casual style. Something different to try and a welcome relief to the hubbub of Amsterdam centre.

We've eaten here several times over the past few years, having been introduced to it by our daughter who studied in the city. This is a pretty, homey, authentically Dutch dinner spot in a lovely area, with a regular local following. Yes, the menu is limited to their seasonal choices, but there is still plenty of delicious variety. We brought... More

This felt more like a cafe than a restaurant, BUT the vegetarian food was good, imaginative and varied, and the service friendly and swift. You wouldn't want to spend a whole evening here, but we spent an enjoyable hour.Very happy to recommend the Stamppot and Waaghals Classic. Some interesting beer too.

We arrived having booked but the waiter seemed to find us fairly inconvenient at best. We waited for 15 minutes and then asked if we might order a drink. It seemed like the bloke had something personal against us - but no he treated other clients with the same distain. On the other hand the food was truly delicious andif... More

I am a hard core vegetarian for the past 4 years now, and experience has taught me to be wary of most 'vegetarian' restaurants in the west. I have MUCH better luck eating at 'regular' restaurants that serve some dishes that happen to be vegetarian, especially Italian and Middle Eastern restaurants. But after reading some of the reviews of De... More

Frist, let me say that it wasn't that the staff were unwilling, quite the contrary, they were very helpful, efficient and attentive but the place was very busy when we were there and so they were a bit stretched. The restaurant itself is a bit tired and run down. The menu is limited but the food is good, trying to... More
