Great food, super friendly space

Eat here every trip to Amsterdam. Always good quality Italian food; unique fun atmosphere; good friendly service. Easy location only about 100 feet from a Tram stop, yet nice side street for seating outside and people watching too.

Been a regular for many years but finally time to post a review. Used to work around the corner and this was the team 'canteen' (recommended by an Italian colleague) for years, but I left NL 3 years ago and now make a point of visiting saturnino's when I'm over in Amsterdam. Was just over in NL for a week... More

We picked this restaurant because this was one of the only Italian restaurants in Amsterdam serving ossobuco, a family favourite. The service was very kind and made you feel at home very quickly. Run by real Italians, the place looks like it belongs in a little alley somewhere in Rome. Very cozy and 'authentic'. We had a big cold cuts... More

I found the outdoor dining good, as I loved to watch all of the gay guys walk by on the gayest street in Amsterdam. My veal scalapinni with lime and veggies was so so, but not bad. The veal was probably not milk-fed veal, which admittedly is difficult to locate. The veggies were OK. Guys at neighboring tables had pasta,... More

Ristorante Saturnino is a very nice Italian café just steps away from the major shopping areas in central Amsterdam. We stumbled across this place while visiting museums and enjoyed ourselves very much. The Saturnino is in a vibrant Art Nouveau setting. Take a look at the wood work around the door and bar as you enter. We were very warmly... More

It seems there are quite a few reviews moaning about slow service here. The fact is this isn't a chain restaurant: it's a quirky, characterful, Amsterdam place. A top tip would simply be don't come in here if you want bland, generic Pizza Hut/ Pizza Express experience, or if you're in a rush. That way you won't be disappointed. Instead,... More

Great location and although it is in a touristy area it is not a bad restaurant. I had pasta and the fish of the day. Fish of the day was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. I would go back for that any day. Pasta was ok, average, I've had much better. Great street atmosphere to sit out on a nice... More

I ate here with a group of friends. The food was certainly edible, but very bland and of low quality. It is obvious that they use the cheapest available products : from the tasteless meat, the plastic'ish mozzarella to the half melted chocolate with the coffee. You will not want to order a desert here...

Wasn't sure what to expect, and was so pleasantly surprised. Tried the house white wine, diet Coke and a couple of pizzas. Good service, good food and friendly service. Total bill only 35 Euros. Very good value and terrific location.
