The restaurant was recommended by the concierge of the nearby Renaissance Hotel. May be he gets a commission. It was easy to get a reservation. Now I know why: Nobody goes there. As appetizer, we got something else than what we ordered as they did not have Hering in stock. Can happen... We were told the mussels were fresh and... More

This is a note I sent to the restaurant; Our group picked your restaurant as the one to remind us of Amsterdam. We had one night in Amsterdam. After our canal ride we found your facility and came in. Every dish was - oh so sorry were out of that. The fish cart fell over and we don't have that.... More

This place is apparently under new ownership which seems to fit with the reviews below. Overpriced food that was barely edible. I had the seabass and it was definitely frozen. Lacklustre vegetables served on stone cold plates. Not a good dining experience. Waitress was trying really hard but the rest of the staff were appalling. Apart from one other table... More

Took the Rib Eye Steak. It tasted well out of date - or maybe aged in the sunshine. Didn't make a fuss, but neither did I eat it. Was only asked if the food was good AFTER the plates had been removed and we had asked for the bill. The agressive manager stafrted to take it perosnally that I hadn't... More

Nice assortment of seafood in this little restaurant off the main streets. Recommended by concierge of nearby Marriott Rennaisance Hotel. Soups are broth based rather than cream and my fish was nicely grilled and not heavy. Mediterranean style cooking. Atmosphere is nothing much. Good restaurant if you want to eat healthy while travelling.

I made two visits Kopke while working in Amsterdam, first in Feb then in March 2010. I like seafood and also like places which are good quality but informal in style. The first visit, I had the Portuguese sardines followed by the baked mackerel (Mackerel a la Kopke) and I can honestly say this was one of the best fish... More

My wife and I were in Amsterdam only a couple of days but our seafood dinner at Kopke was our finest meal there. We really found one of the prawn appetizers and the sea bass to be quite excellent. The cost was on the higher end but not overly so and the restaurant was small and quaint.

I gave this restaurant a glowing review last year based on numerous visits to it between 2000 and 2007. On returning to it last month, I found that it had changed hands and the character that was such a big part of it previously had also changed - completely. The decor had been completely changed leaving little of the charm... More
