I tried this place after my masseur tipped me....he is from Bali so I trusted his judgment :) Well it turned out to be a good choice.....the sate and the bakkabana were truly delicious. I cannot judge the service inside as I ordered take away it was packed though.

A nice walk through to De Pijp from the Museumplein, but the food and venue were nothing special. It was quite crowded inside the small space, so you can look forward to squeezing past people and their bags on opposite tables. The venue possessed a vibe similar to a student cafeteria and while the food was interesting, the overall experience... More

This seems like a local hole in the wall. The place isn't huge, but it's well kept and seemed popular. The music selection was odd (late 1990s boy bands?). You can request a menu in English. There is a small exclusively vegetarian section. I tried the setian/tofu sandwich (small) which was slightly spicy and ok. The vegetarian noodle soup was... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant when the delicious scents of the food caught our attention from the street. We were not totally sure what to expect, but the food was outstanding. I had a chicken satay and noodle dish and my wife had a yellow curry dish with rice. Both were fantastic. The restaurant is cash only and the staff... More

Our adult son had tipped us off to great surinamese food in Amsterdam, and right he was. It's difficult to describe the cuisine for someone who has never had it before, but let me say this: we wiped our bowls clean, making sure to devour every drop of the tasty sauces that were the base of our dishes. The decor... More

We really enjoyed our meal here - very flavorful, great prices, and good service. We got three main dishes (between three people), and shared them. All were very good. They do not have alcohol here, but the food is worth it!

The best dinner that I have had in the Netherlands. I had the special and an order of bata. The meal was simple yet delicious. The mint tea as very simple and tasty too.

Surinam is not dry and neither is Indonesia. This restaurant, however, is run by fundamentalist that don't like people consuming adult beverages. So, I would likely choose another restaurant as I don't like someone else making the choice of beverages that I would like to consume.

I went here with a good friend in Amsterdam who recommended this place and after eating here could understand why he spoke so highly about this place. After a day walking about Amsterdam, we settled here for a spot of early dinner. The restaurant is a small one and was full at the time we got there; busy service yet... More

We went for lunch after reading a rave review in a guidebook. The food was bland, the sauces gloopy and gave us both an upset stomach. There must be better Indonesian food than this in Amsterdam...
