Great value for Amsterdam

Went last week with friends, great food at even better prices. Really tasty and staff were helpful. This isn't a fancy place but if you are in the area, worth stopping in for your dinner.

This place has been on my radar since I travel to Amsterdam almost once per year. I'm incredibly happy that I tried it. Since I had my son in a stroller, I knew take-out was the only option so I went with the special. I ate nearly the entire thing because it was that delicious--the portion was huge! Anyhow, I... Close to Albert Cuyp Market in De Pijp we found this tiny surinamese/indonesian restaurant with spicy and tasty food. We started with saoto ayam, a very delicious chicken soup, followed by the satay chicken and some lamb curry. Both were ecellent. The staff was very friendly, and the prices not high. Note! The restaurant is halal, which means no beer... More

Don't miss this tiny restaurant in Amsterdam's de Pijp. For spicy, authentic Surinamese food this is the place to go (or to pick up some take out). The place is usually packed full with people, regardless of the time/day/season so you kind of have to be lucky to get a table. One tip: reserve in advance! Prices are very friendly.

Arrived and were seated quite fast but had to share a table as the place is tiny. We waited ages to order our food and had to call the water over in the end. Paid €2.50 for a can of ginger beer (and straw) and the food we ordered was the same even though we ordered two different meals. Lack... More

Arrived at around 8 on Monday night, packed place! I guess it is rather small. Anyway we were seated in about 10mins, looked at English menu while waiting. Ordered once we sat and food was served pretty quickly, bonus points for that! The roti dish we had (w chicken on bone) was delicious! Different from most other Southeast Asian food... More

The food is very tasty and the portion was huge in this establishment which has been in the family for generations. The place doesn't look like very much, clearly they've not gone for the decor. It's tiny but it's clean and otherwise very ok. Toilet was also very clean which is always a good sign. The staff were friendly and... More

I tried this place after my masseur tipped me....he is from Bali so I trusted his judgment :) Well it turned out to be a good choice.....the sate and the bakkabana were truly delicious. I cannot judge the service inside as I ordered take away it was packed though.

A nice walk through to De Pijp from the Museumplein, but the food and venue were nothing special. It was quite crowded inside the small space, so you can look forward to squeezing past people and their bags on opposite tables. The venue possessed a vibe similar to a student cafeteria and while the food was interesting, the overall experience... More

This seems like a local hole in the wall. The place isn't huge, but it's well kept and seemed popular. The music selection was odd (late 1990s boy bands?). You can request a menu in English. There is a small exclusively vegetarian section. I tried the setian/tofu sandwich (small) which was slightly spicy and ok. The vegetarian noodle soup was... More
