Decent Dutch Food

I bought a Groupon for this place at the suggestion of a friend who had been there, The Dutch are not known for their inspired cuisine, but this place is pretty decent! Staff were friendly enough, not over the top, but ok by Amsterdam standards. Drinks are cheap. Check out the

What a wonderful little restaurant! We chose it when looking for reviews of the best Stamppot in the city, and we're sure we found it. Our waiter was so welcoming and accommodating (even insisting that we use their phone charger), the music was lively, the decorations were cosy, and the food just can't be beat. Worth a visit (or two!)

We stumbled upon this place as we left Begijnhof and stopped because of the traditional Dutch options on the menu. We had lunch one day and liked it so much we went back for dinner another night. The atmosphere is very laid back, nice and relaxed. The staff were very friendly and able to advise on the portions (many things... More

Friendly staff, good location, excellent food. We headed there first after we arrived in Amsterdam and it was worth to do that..

I've been coming to this bistro/café for years and what I enjoy most is that I can sit by myself with a book enjoying a drink, lunch or dinner, and the staff will be perfectly friendly and attentive. No rush, no feeling like anyone is impatiently waiting for you to move so both seats at the table can be filled.... More

I loved the Mashpot beef stew. The best dish you can have! It's easy to find in a street alley and the staff is very friendly.

This restaurant is centrally located in a beautiful lane just off the main shopping strip. It offers traditional ´Dutch´ cuisine with a range of Dutch and Belgian beers. There are various tables outside, however, the quirky décor inside was wonderful. We had an open herring sandwich which was an adequate sized-portion alongside the Dutch mashpot. Many locals had stated that... More

Such fun, and I am not even a beer drinker! It was really interesting to learn about the process. Lots of interactive exhibits. Go early to miss the crowds, and buy tickets ahead of time to get a discount. The gift shop at the end has lots of great items and the prices are not bad.

The food was great the price was reasonable and the staff were very friendly, rather than risk stumbling upon it I would suggest actively seeking it out. The menu didn’t seem massive but it was clear that what they do they do well, so glad we went here.

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
