Small restaurant in the old neighborhood "De Pijp". Difficult parking, but easily reachable by public transportation. Several exotic meat options (crocodile, ostrich, springbok, kundu), but we went for their Cape Malay dishes. The food was wonderful, the service prompt and friendly, and the wines from Stellenbosch were excellent. The chef/owner was enthusiastic. Clearly one of our favorites in Amsterdam.

We went to Tjing Tjing for a meal on the 26th and was surprised by a meal that was worth 5+ stars! As we were in no hurry and having some lovely South African wine, we had all the time to taste the dishes that was presented. It started with some delicious beef samosas. Crispy and freshly made. The next... More

We visited Tjing Tjing to try their "Braai" (BBQ) menu with some friends new to South African food. Since it was a group type dinner it was served as a buffet meal. For starters we were offered a plate of samosas, some vegetarian and some beef, served with some chutney. As a samosa lover I found both varieties very tasty,... More

I went to Tjing Tjing because they had great reviews, and also I wanted to try something different than usual oriental/indian/italian cuisine, however I was very disappointed after this visit. We came to restaurant knowing menu, my GF wanted to try ostrich, however we been informed by very friendly and informative waiter that there is no more ostrich available, we... More

The food here was excellent, imaginative, and very generous portions. Cannot fault the service either, nor the interesting decor. This will appeal to both afficionados of South African cuisine, and also complete beginners. The only downside is that you won't be able to try all of the difference dishes you'd like to try, unless you're living in Amsterdam, and can... More

We loved it! The service and welcome was impeccable, friendly and courteous and the waiter was more than helpful in guiding us throught he different options. The restaurant is extremely cosy and it felt like we were eating in someones large living room rather than in a restaurant. even the smell of the place reminded us of the holidays! The... More
