We spotted this little restaurant off the Rembrandt square and thought it looked a little different from the usual tourist fare. It is small cosy, quite quiet when we were in. Food was good. I had kangaroo skewer with mango and papaya and yam croquettes. Very tasty. Could definitely recommend the baked marzipan and blood orange ice cream. On special.

Trying to get away from the usual offerings of steaks/burgers and chips we stumbled across this small restaurant just off Rembrandtplein. We ate there on three of the four nights we were in Amsterdam. Apart from their normal menu there were always a couple of starters, main courses and desserts on the specials board. Lovely freshly prepared dishes and great... More

When you get tired of the fried meat-and-potato balls, burgers, chips and stodgy pancakes, go to this restaurant and have something entirely different. We had a starter-size plate of smoked duck breast with tagliatelli and a main meal size plate of rucula (rocket) in a dainty balsamic dressing, covered in plenty of slices of rare beef fillet. The restaurant lets... More

We found this through tripadvisor as we were looking for something near the hotel we were staying in. This is on a side street which is quite, we went in for a meal in the afternoon (after normal lunch hours, but normal tourist hours :) ) but they told us we have to wait as they will open at dinner... We stumbled across this restaurant early one evening during a recent stay in Amsterdam. It was packed but they managed to accommodate us later on in the evening. It was worth the wait. The food was delicious. Two of our party had one of the specials - Grandmother's stew - which they claimed was excellent. I had the piri piri... More

A rather disappointing experience as I went there having read all those very good reviews on here. The restaurant itself is indeed very cosy and cute, tacked away just behind the busy Rembrandt square, and the two girls serving were very friendly and sweet if not a little bit tired. The disappointing part of the evening was the menu itself.... More

Excelent choice for a cold and windy day. The place is very comfortable and meals are sophisticated. Me, my wife and my brother went there and asked for two soups (carrots with ginger) as a starter, a "frango piri piri" (spice chicken), a dourado fish and a lamb meat as a main and we finished with one cheesecake which was... We wanted a place for dinner that wasn't overpriced, cozy and offered a good variety of food (Argentinian Steak House, Burger and Italian eateries were everywhere and boring in Amsterdam).. The food was amazing.. And our tastebuds we're having a rave as we had spent 4 days in UK beforehand eating pretty boring food in comparison. We shared a starter;... More

Interesting menu, lovely food, good service, really, what more can you want and the prices are very reasonable. I certainly felt we were getting good value for money and would definately go back. The one and only little problem was the heating. We had a table right next to the window, so the view was an added bonus, however, the... More

We visited Szmulewicz after a recommendation from our hotel and we were not disappointed. Szmulewicz is a busy, cosy restaurant off Rembrandtplein Square which serves a varied menu of tasty international food. I ordered the malaysian chicken soup followed by the bali barramundi fish and the flavours were just amazing. I still had room for pudding and enjoyed frozen yoghurt... More
