Nice lunch

Went walking around the city with a friend yesterday and we stopped into Cafe Cook (He knew it, I didn’t). It’s kind of hidden on an inside corner among a long stretch of residential buildings across from a church. The staff and the place were very welcoming. We sat at the bar and both had ham and... read more

This really is one of my favourite places in Amsterdam. Not only because it's a real 'local' spot but also because of the great great food! I can't really recommend one thing as they keep changing the menu (which I love). House-wine is good and try to make a reservation upfront if you don't want to be disappointed.

Love, love, love Cook. You can choose between wentelteefjes(sweet) or uitsmijter(salty) breakfast. All heavenly nice. Lunch, dinner or dessert, they are all of good quality. Some dishes are basic, but very nice. I love how they change their menu on a regular base. They have all kinds of nice beers of small (sometimes unknown) brewery's. Especially nice in summer on... Ate at this restaurant after a recommendation and we were not disappointment. The menus are in Dutch but the staff are more than happy to translate. The service was relaxed and friendly. The food was wonderful. I hope we will make it back there while on this trip for another meal!

We have lived near Cook Cafe for years, and go there at least once a month. The food is good, my favorite is the calamari, which is the best I've had in Amsterdam. They also have very nice sandwiches, decent soups, and a good selection of beer. During the warmer months, they have outdoor seating on the square, which is... More

We found this restaurant on the advice of our host on Saturday night and it was very busy. We hadn't booked, but we were found a place on the end of a long table. The menu wasn't extensive, but sufficient for us and we both chose the steak. We were given a small plate of homemade bread with some Olive... More

Very lovely and friendly place, in kind of an unexpected place. Top service. Very tasty food. I enjoyed the surprisingly good Romanian Pinot Grigio. Certainly recommended for a visit, also on Mondays!

Cute neighbourhood café/restaurant just a few blocks away from my house. Very nice terras at a quite residential square with a view of a beautiful church. Once there you should try to enter if it is open. Off centre, tourism, etc. Waiters are usely students, but they are welcoming and friendly. And to be honest, the food never disappointed me.... We have been in Amsterdam 4 days and have eaten here twice. The service was very friendly and helpful (we do not speak a word of Dutch so they translated the menu for us). We had the steak, salmon, guinea hen and a veal special. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the wine although the choices are limited.... More
