Loved this cozy neighborhood restaurant. They have a lovely terrace, if the weather is good, and the white wine with lobster are delicious.

We took Tram#9 from Central & got off after 9 stops - right in front of the restaurant! We booked as a party of 8 for Restaurant Week and that took up a round table right in the middle of the whole restaurant. Service was very attentive and excellent. Our 3-course fixed menu was quite delightful. We were presented with... More

This comfortable, well appointed restaurant is a short tram ride south of the city centre, on a square next to the Tropenmuseum (Museum of the colonies). It provides really superb international modern food with a Dutch twist. My duck rillettes with pickles were followed by a delicious cauliflower velouté and then roast cod for a main course, served with samphire... More

Michelin worthy lunch with delicious dorado, steak and Iberico. The creme caramel was delicious too with orange and gluhwein syrup. We were served by one of the owners and the service was excellent. Situated opposite the Tropen museum, across the water it is small but personal! Recommended to us and we Highly recommend it onwards!

Amsterdam's a lovely city but even it's most ardent admirer would admit there are too many places serving overpriced tourist food with precious little quality for the cost. This place, on the edge of town serves good worthy of the highest awards but is well priced (read not cheap but not ridiculous either). Worth finding if you're on this side... More

Just happened upon this place, a 3 minute walk from the Hampshire Lancaster Hotel. Nobody had mentioned it but it is a JEWEL. 5 course meal for 49,59 euros ---would cost 3 times as much inParis! Really, absolutely wonderful. Delightful staff, beautiful restaurant (quiet with view of bustling city), super chef. He slipped away before I could thank him personally... More

Went with a large group and all had the five course menu. It was all super and no one had any complaints at all and I would come back. Only slight issue was one of the staff dropped a good bottle of wine and without asking proceeded to poor into our glasses. It would have been nice to have not... More

Had a great evening with my husband at Elkaar. Food was really tasty, service was excellent and wine nice. I haven't eaten this well in a long time. Would definitely recommend the restaurant.

This was without a doubt the single best culinary experiency for many of us. It was a business dinner. The restaurant easy to find, cozy with great ambience. The staff was very friendly and they explained what every course was made up of, which indeed increased positive effect of the experience. Great wines.

Others have provided a nice overview of the food and service, so I will be brief. I travel with a dozen co-workers to Amsterdam each year for a convention and Elkaar is pretty much everyone's first choice. It is conveniently located near the Arena Hotel (also recommended) where we stay, but I would gladly travel across town to get there.... More
