My husband and I found this restaurant about a year ago and it is our favorite place to come when we visit Maastricht. The service is excellent and the staff and owner understand how to treat their costumers. We came in on a busy Saturday night and it was amazing to watch the staff take care of everyone in such... This place is always a good idea to go to, but if you don´t want to wait for a table too long, go early. Great `zuurvlees` and very affordable food!

I simply love going to this place. It's a small café that has the most tasty local dishes at a very affordable price. Keep in mind that you cannot book a table here, and it's always packed with people. It's quite common to wait 30 minutes at the bar before getting a table. But trust me, it's worth the wait.... Best place in town with always fresh produce and good quality cooking. Impossible to book and depending on time of year, week, day and hour you can be waiting for up to an hour for a table. If you don't mind having a glass of wine while standing ...highly recommended.

This is the place when you want to experience the real local atmosphere, go early because the place can fill up quick. The food is honest local fare and their beers are good and cold. They are located just near the old city wall.

Sure, we had heard of the place - Café Sjiek. My friend and I were engaging in some pleasant pub-crawling. If any city is suited for that purpose, it's Maastricht. Incidentally, along the way, we began our tour with a short pit-stop at the open chapel of the "Onze Lieve Vrouw" Basilica in Maastricht. What a marvel of a church... More

Cafė Sjiek, located in the old centre of Maastricht, is one of my family's favorite places to eat. No haute cuisine, but very tasty dishes, some of them local specialties. You cannot make reservations at Sjiek, but we think this is the restaurant's greatest charm: you never know who will be joining you at your table. Especially during the summer,... More

Cafe Sjiek is located in a quaint part of Maastricht which we had missed on our first visit to this lovely town. We arrived in late afternoon on a sunny early fall Saturday. We sat outside on the beautiful terrace, across the street from the cafe. The park like setting is beautiful. The food was very good. We highly recommend... More

This is one popular local in Maastricht which was reco'd by Lonely Planet, so we had to try it. We entered and it was very crowded and full of energy. A local outside (smoking) said to us 'it's worth the wait'. We didn't have to wait long - about 5 minutes at the bar and we were seated at a... More

I love that this place stays up until 23:00. It's quite hard to find a kitchen open this late in Maastricht and this place offers good food! I tried the Tournedos tenderloin steak, which for 26€ was served with a portion of fresh fries and a small bowl of nice salad. You can choose a sauce for your steak, I... More
