Fun and food

We went there on a spur of the moment and was rewarded with great food and pleasant waiters. The atmosphere is shippy and should not be taken to serious. But as a more untraditional place to eat it is great. We had two pancakes. Both of us found them extremely tasty and was happy to have something... read more

I really liked the atmosphere and eating on a ship was fun. The staff were also very friendly. I ate one of the basic savoury pancakes which was tasty even if not 'haute cuisine'. The dessert though (Belgian waffle) was a big disappointment as clearly not fresh. Overall, four stars for location and atmosphere, three stars for food.

The actual pancakes are typically found all over the Netherlands. This restaurant separates itself from all the others by a) being onboard a canal barge (fantastic for the kids) and b) offering pancakes in a variety of combinations that I have bever seen before. A very pleasant lunch which I can best describe as being typically Dutch.

This is a special experience - eating in a boat! The pancake dishes served are only average, though.

I had a sweet pancake, with apple, banana and raisins (it came with powdered sugar on top). It was made perfectly, melted and slightly burned. Pancake/crepe places from many countries should come here to learn how to do it right.

I throughly enjoyed my visit at the ship. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was great. The waiting staff were attentive and happy to answer all my questions and recommend items on the menu.

University of Groningen guys invited us to this lovely boat/restaurant. The menu? panckackes. A huge mountain of panckackes for everyone. Some of them with bacon, some of them, sweet. It was great, and the attention was excellent.

This is a must! The options here are incredible; sweet, savoury, a mixture of the two, with as much maple syrup and sugar as you can possibly want is accessible instead of the salt and pepper we are used to at any other establishment. I have only been once however my friends have travelled to Groningen many times and say... More

Great pirate fun for kids that dint know better but otherwise you will be at a disappointment. No ice for cold drinks, overpriced wine, poorly executed crepes and questionable quality. I'm not sure what the appeal is other than you're on a ship but the interior is drab and the seating outside is only open during the summer. There is... More

There are several of these, all over the Netherlands, and this one is as good as any of them. Pancakes for dinner, cooked with any number of ingredients ranging from savory to sweet, is actually an authentic Dutch cultural experience--though perhaps a bit easier to swallow than jumping in to an endive stamppot or hete bliksem. We always take my... More
