Super for lunch or dinner

Ate here for dinner - I had white fish in a cream sauce and the two people with me ate the beef in beer which they described as superb. Food beautifully presented. Home brewed beer complimented the menu well. Desserts were equally varied - Creme Brûlée delicious. It was a gloomy, misty evening but... read more

Quirky and tasty. The beer and mustard soup is a local specialty and was great. A friendly stag party, dressed as clergymen, were funny and actually not drunk! Dutch manners are impressive.

The location is charming on it's own, when it comes to their products it's even getting better. One of the better local breweries in town, we decided to go witht the beer tasting first, 10 beers for a bit more than 10 euros (can't go wrong with that!) The beers where served in cycles of 3 with a clear description... More

We have just had a fantastic couple of hours her. Tried lots of the different beers. You can have a taster of 6 of the beers in 6 little glasses. We had a starter and main dish each, all were delicious, freshly prepared and very tasty. Portion sizes were generous and we did not have room for dessert. The atmosphere... More

I have visited "Heaven" several times and have eaten a meal and snacks, both of which where good. The ain reason, however, was the beer, all brewed on the premises. The names and labels for the beers are as fun as the beer is to drink. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The bar area has an amazing clock made... More

I pride myself in being able to find good beer in any country regardless of language. De Hamel is the real deal! They had 10 of their own beers on tap (7 regulars and 3 seasonals). I really enjoyed the Mariken, which is named for the famous Nijmegen protagonist that spent 7 years with the devil before being miraculously released.... More

The building is fantastic. "De commanderie van St. Jan" is a medieval building in the Center of Nijmegen. There are different restaurants to choose in this building.(De Hemel, Plaats 1) and some other food related businesses. We had lunch in De Hemel (the heaven). I chose the "goat's cheese salad". It was okay. Nice cheese, some bacon and lettuce, with... More

I had dinner here and took the 8 course meal. I started with the bread and tapenade which was good. Second round was the soup which was delicious. The next 5 dishes were fish and meat. With the fish, I could taste that it was fish from the freezer and not fresh, the meat was not cooked well. The waiters... More
