We visited the Lord Nelson on Saturday, 11th October. We were greeted by a very amiable and polite young girl who showed us to our table, took our drinks order and gave us menus. All very professional and welcoming. Starters of mushrooms with a garlic dip and one of filled potato skins. When these arrived we couldn't believe what we... More

We visited the lord nelson on Sunday lunch with a party of eight. We were given a warm welcome by the manager and shown to our table. The food was delicious with homemade puds and fressh vegetables. A really enjoyable visit and exceptional value. Well done

It's more than 20 years since I last went into the Lord Nelson, but reading all the good reviews made me think it was time for a visit. It's really rather nice inside - not much in the way of character, but comfortable and modern. The menu looked ok - 2 courses for £9.95 and a reasonable choice for children.... More

My family of 3 children, my wife, and myself went to the Lord Nelson this evening. We were asked to choose a table. Booked for Sunday lunch for four people. Sunday lunch menu 3 courses for £13.95. Good choice of starters and desserts and a choice of meats for main course. Friendly staff, prompt service and we didn't have to wait long for our food to be served. Food was delicious. Will definitely visit again.

This is a huge place and should be full every night. It is a few years since I last went and was extremely disappointed during my last visit to find nothing has changed. I honestly am lost for words to describe the quality of food. I have never tasted anything so bland and boring in my life... Ridiculously hot and... More

Recently called in to the Lord Nelson on the way home from Sheffield on a very quiet mid-week evening. We had not been to the pub for over ten years, when we were regulars. The same owner was still there and he recognised us immediately! As already mentioned the pub was very quiet but the atmosphere was still very pleasant just... More
