**** Bistro side review **** Food: it is focused on Swiss meals based on rösti and spätzli. The portion are always good in size. Personally, I took the typical Zurich dish made of sliced veal in creamy wine sauce with spätzli. It was good but honestly it is quite fatty and the sauce didn't seem to be home-made (but rahter... Friendly restaurant with simple but good food. The focus is on Swiss specialities (rösti, hörnly, porc). We were there with our two kids (7 and 9) and loved it. Prices are very reasonable.

We went for the Metzgete, an autumn pork festival. Having read about the long lines, we arrived early but got right in. It's out of the way, up winding roads but worth trying to go. This was my second time there. A large serving of sliced pork livers with a side of roesti was very good, as was the beer.... More

people from all over switzerland travel to this small and well hidden restaurant during autumn to grab a "schlachtplatte", and rightly so. this is very authentic, down to earth countryside cooking at its best, the opposite of fancy gault millau and michelin star food, but equally enjoyable. been here almost half a dozen times this season and I'm still excited... A cozy place on a winter's eve. Very good country Swiss food. We had excellent roesti with sausage and hoernli with meat sauce. Others in the restaurant were enjoying what appeared to be an excellent fondue. Prices were moderate (once you get used to Swiss prices). Large portions and heavy food-a great treat but not something for every day

The restaurant is somewhat hidden in the forrest on the 'berg' between Dübendorf and Zürich but very much worth the effort to get there. They serve uncomplicated Swiss favourites such as sausage, rösti and of course Cordon Bleu. All well prepared and served in big portions. We have been there during the wam weather season and each time ate outside... More

This is the second time we dine at Geeren, we had lunch this time and it was wonderful. A traditional, wholesome and Swiss lunch. The portions are quite big, so don't order too much. The Rosti is perfect and for those who love cheese, the make a great Rosti ( Harsh browns) with cheese. The sausages are very big, fresh... More

Excellent Swiss Cooking. A better choice for foreigners in Zurich, if they have the necessary time and a driver...
