Perfect spot for lunch while sightseeing in Zurich

A business partner and I took a break from strolling the old town section of Zurich to enjoy lunch at the Rheinfelder-Bierhaus. We enjoyed the local "Cardinal" brew. We split the calamari and I had the Swiss salad. The salad (consisting of cabbage, beets, and sausage) was good. The calamari was... read more

This beer house was just around the corner from our hotel and we had the house specialty for dinner on our first night - this was Veal in a Creamy Mushroom Sauce with Potato Rosti. It was delicious and our waiter served an excellent wine which he had recommended to us. Friendly staff and we started talking to 2 locals... More

When in Zurich, most travel guides will direct you to one of the fancy beer halls and guild houses, which are, in my opinion, way too expensive. Rheinfelder may not look like much on first glance and is very down to earth, but if you are looking for traditional Swiss food and beer at reasonable prices (at least for Swiss... More

We stopped here for dinner while we were walking around Zurich one evening. The service was friendly, but the restaurant was quite average in other respects.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our local guide. We really liked it. One has to be prepared to share a table with other people in that type of restaurant. Serves traditional swiss food, very tasty, very good.

... with the Rheinfelder Bierhalle just along the street. A small, unpretentious place, you may well find yourself sharing a table. Friendly, helpful and fast service. Food excellent, certainly cheaper and probably better than that served by more upmarket places. Highly recommended.

Having walked around looking for a restaurant, a local recommended this place. Very simple, doesn't look swish, but it was full of locals! Veal and roti was excellent. Beer very good. Prices very reasonable. Service quick and friendly. Would recommend for a non pretentious dinner.

After trying to find somewhere that served typical Swiss food we were directed to this place. Very basic inside, nice friendly waitress, good food and lots of it. I had pork with a sauce and sweet paprika, served with noodles and green beans. Simple and delicious. Reasonable prices for a city eatery.

This is one of our family favourites. This beer house is situated in the middle of the old town, called Niederdorf. It is always packed full with locals, tradies and intellectuals alike. The menu offers a variety of hearty German fare to please every taste. The service is friendly and efficient.
