Best Zuri-Gsnezzletts with Rosti!

I always try to get to the Niederdorf when in Zurich. The Bluetige Duume satisfies my craving for authentic Swiss eats!

A small bustling restaurant - expect to share tables - serving up good portions of decent Swiss-German rosti, spatzle, sausages, veal in mushroom sauce, steak and other standard favourites. Better salads than desserts. Bread was stale. A welcoming waitress provided sound advice on the blackboard specials. Strictly functional decor and furnishings. Good value overall for the food.

If you are looking for a traditional Swiss Bierhaus but find most of restaurants in Zurich too expensive then De bluetig Duume is a good alternative. Comparing to other similar restaurants, for example the famous Zeughaus Keller on Bahnhofstrasse, De bluetig Duume lacks ambience - the lighting is terrible, decoration is dated and the whole concept of authentic Swiss chuchi... I must say the food in this restaurant was OK, though we couldn't enjoy it due to the rude waiter and service we had from the very beginning. Our first sin was to wait for our friends arrival (around 20 minutes). The waiter asked unpolitely where they were. He was always rude, unpolite and nasty to us... Maybe because we... More

Being a beerhouse, you'd think they'll be happy to serve you just drink. In fact we asked for 3 beers and some frittes. Turns out we had to order food and since this is not what we wanted the guy basically stood there saying he can't help us. Completely unapologetic, like we had no idea what we were doing. One... I'm from the UK visiting Zurich on business. Just strolling around the city looking for "authentic" Swiss food. We passed plenty of Italian, French etc so decided to eat here after peering through the window. 3 of us were seated on the same table as 2 other diners which was no problem - the place is pretty small. The service... More

We looked for a typical place and we though we got it, seeing the beautiful furnitures of wood. The owner was unable to smile and not French speaking; he gave us an half liter bottle of Fleury instead of the quarter we asked. OK, it may happens. But the quality of wine was really under the medium, while the price... More

The term beer house implied a rollicking group of folks drinking and singing...this is more of a café that serves beer. It was listed in the Zurich tourist brochure as one of the 2 great beer halls in town -- oh well. However, I am now a rosti fan, but I thought the tomato/onion sauce took away from the sausage.... I visited again together with my daughter, and we are satisfied that the quality of the traditional Swiss dishes has remained the same if not a tad improved, what definitely has changed with Beffa Gastro - the new owners - is service quality, their waitresses and waiters now manage to bid guests welcome and are rather swift in order taking... Very run down place, definitely not "shabby chic", as it is just worn, obviously lacking funds to refurbish. While pulling the Swiss traditional card for dishes, quality is inferior, most food probably comes straight out of the bag/box of a convenience supplier (how otherwise could an order-to-serve time of less than 10 minutes be explained?) and taste is non-existent. Just... More
