I visited again together with my daughter, and we are satisfied that the quality of the traditional Swiss dishes has remained the same if not a tad improved, what definitely has changed with Beffa Gastro - the new owners - is service quality, their waitresses and waiters now manage to bid guests welcome and are rather swift in order taking... Very run down place, definitely not "shabby chic", as it is just worn, obviously lacking funds to refurbish. While pulling the Swiss traditional card for dishes, quality is inferior, most food probably comes straight out of the bag/box of a convenience supplier (how otherwise could an order-to-serve time of less than 10 minutes be explained?) and taste is non-existent. Just... More

This place is just so nice, and typical Zurich, it is called by everyone the Bloody Thumb rather than the Rheinfelder-Bierhus and it such a local place and famous for their liver and it was the best I have had in years, Delicious, and decently priced if you can say that in Zurich.

Considering how expensive Zurich is, this is one of the rare places you can find good Swiss food at a comparatively more reasonable price (around Fr 20 plus for a main). The place is small and cosy and there is an English menu. We ordered veal in mushroom cream sauce with rosti and pork cordon bleu with pasta. I prefer... More

We arrived Zurich late in the evening after 3 days of intensive hiking in the Jungfrau region. Even though we were both tired and hungry, we still wanted to find a restaurant where we would enjoy. It's was Friday night, everywhere was reasonably full but this place was packed both indoor and outdoor tables, with some people still waiting. An... More

Most reasonably priced food we could find in Zurich, with the most reasonable authenticity (29 CHF for a continental breakfast at my hotel? No thank you!) The waitresses are extremely nice and efficient (despite being quite busy as well). As many recommend here, the Cordon bleu is exceptional and will fill you up (has the highest fullness/money spent ratio) -... More

Having flown a red-eye from the US, having been awake for over 24 hours and having had nothing but airplane food for 18 hours, we wandered through the Altstadt in the late morning waiting until 11:00 when the restaurants would open. We had this place confused with the nearby Rheinfelder Bierhalle, so we stopped in, tired and hungry. We were... More

Found this little local pub & was very happy with the experience! Food is okay but the portions are HUGE - so if your hungry go for the cordon blue - which must be what 90% of the kitchen makes! This is a cute genuine local spot, crowded at times but total fun. They also offered fish & chips -... More

What you see is what you get here: you go there to have a typical swiss/german meal prepared quickly. Nothing special here but nothing bad either. However, the service was bordering rude. Not sure if I would return.
