Book ahead if you want to go there

Very busy, you need to book ahead if you want to be sure to find a seat. Child friendly, service at times slow because the place is crowded but the staff was always smiling and again, friendly. Great ambience.. Good Swiss food.. A little overpriced, but totally worth it. The fondue was okay... Expected a little better.

Tourists and locals throng to the Zeughauskeller for beer and sausages. You can also get veal In cream sauce ( the local speciality) with Rösti. Calves liver also good, cut into strips. No sophistication but efficient friendly waiters and calorific puddings such as apple fritters. Good beer.

Second time in Zurich in one year. Our favorite restaurant, Veltliner Keller, was closed for vacation so we asked the consierge at the hotel for a similar restaurant. Zurich is exceedingly expensive, so we wanted to do our due dilligence. We emphasized nothing touristy. She kept defaulting to this place which is on a printed list prepared just for tourists... Very typical Swiss dining experience. Housed in an old armory dating to Medieval Times, this is a fun place. The Beer is good and so is the food. The Pork Shank is amazing. Nice staff and it is just plain fun! You may even be seated at a communal table...it is fun to meet other people over a beer!

Our concierge said if we wanted a typical Swiss meal in Zurich to try this restaurant. It was packed on Saturday evening...but we were lucky enough to get a table outside. Weather was wonderful. Food was DELICIOUS!! My husband got the Wienerschnitzel and I had the Kalbsgeschnetzeltes nach Zürcher (panfried sliced veal and mushrooms in a delicious creamy white-wine sauce).... More

After walking around the west side of the Limmat river for a number of hours, we decided we needed to relax and have a beer and some food. My wife had the curry chicken salad and I had the Augustinier with Rosti. A good dark beer completed the meal. We both enjoyed the atmosphere. Fortunately, there was only one person... More

Located in old town Zurich, this large German beer hall style restaurant is a LOT of fun and offers all kinds of beers and large portions of food. We ordered a veal schnitzel and veal with mushrooms and sauce to accompany our beers. Seating is crowded with large and small tables and festive conversations all around. Given how busy this... A must go for all Zurich visitors. Nice staff but again. Swiss prices witch makes it a little expensive.

We enjoy mostly contemporary gourmet food, so the food here did not impress us. My husband had perch(he said that it was just ok) and I had veal sausage with potatoes. Those that like basic home food would probably enjoy it more than we did. We did not like the beer too much either. But what impressed me was that... More
