Tradition, tradition - Japanese food as you know it

Traditional Japanese food. Lots of choices. Proper delivery of Japanese classics. No surprises, no creativity. But reassuringly good.

It was the first time I took my daughter to this restaurant after the Easter Holidays (The restaurant was closed for the holidays)and it has been a while since my last visit (about one year) but I was very happy that the owner still remember me and greeted with with lot of warm feelings especially in front of my daughter.... We (a couple) visited the restaurant for dinner. We ordered the CHF 140.- kaiseki dinner. We were very disappointed because the food was very average- some were actually mediocre, with baby corns and corn pieces and cherry tomato in a cold corn soup. If you are expecting an average quality kaiseki meal like they serve in Japan, what they serve... More

Our Japanese travel group was invited by our Swiss partner to this restaurant and we were all truly amazed about this restaurant's quality of Japanese food. We had the Tokubetsu Kaiseki which was excellent. All dishes were very good in taste and also the presentation was great to the smallest detail (sakura-blossoms for decoration,...) My personal favorite were the sashimi... More

Given the reviews and reputation of the place I expected an amazing food experience, but despite the food being really good, I would still rate it as 4/5. We took the full menu and it was maybe too much at one time. Some of the tastes didn't go well together. The beef that was the prime part of the menu... More

The food in this restaurant was a very positive surprise! we didn't got for any of the "set menus" offered, bur ordered the "Sukiyaki" ... the food was presented in a hot-pot with a tasty sauce accompanied with fresh veggies, raw thin slices of beef were given to us to cook in the nice hot sauce, rice and noodles to... This is by far a top3 Japanese restaurant of Zurich. It could be Nr1 easily if not taking into account the price which is on the high end. Very low key setting, however super attentive service. I have to mention that it was not a very busy Wednesday dinner. We had some tasting menus and some separate dishes ordered and... More

We tried out this place during our first stay in Zurich and based on reviews on TripAdvisor. We made our reservation last minute and the staff did their very best to make a table available for us. We arrived just in time. From the outside this is not the type of place I would walk in unexpectedly but as usual... More

We have been there last night for a special occasion, my love BD dinner! I was initially a bit disappointed by the strong lights and casual atmosphere as I was expecting it to be a bit more romantic and scenic... in fact the place is pretty authentic Japanese style so I guess it is only a matter of my wrong... We tried the taster menu, I think 10 dishes, very large variety, fish, meat, soup, sushi, sashimi etc. All extremely high quality, except the beef which was not so special. We could have ordered more expensive meat, but the meal was already expensive - chf 140 each plus drinks. I found service to be very friendly and fast. We didn't... More
