Description: With its aura of La Belle Epoque, the Lipp is a cult site for French brasserie style cuisine. You can find it in the heart of Zurich. The restaurant can accommodate 200 people indoors and 40 people outdoors. Here diners can sample fresh cuisine and enjoy the Parisian ambiance. The standard menu offers a large selection of French dishes such as oven-roasted lamb steak with porto jus, tagliatelle and ratatouille. You can also order the dishes as takeaways – including the opened and ice-cooled oysters. French culture resonates on the wine list too. The Panorama Bar adjoining the restaurant is a particular highlight. Overlooking the rooftops of the city, it is the perfect place to come for lunch, an aperitif or a glass of wine from anywhere in the world.

Restaurant was recommended by our hotel, as one of the few open on Sunday. Fish soup was extremely good; gazpacho was not as chunky as we were used to, but very tasty. English menu didn't quite describe the dishes correctly. it would have been clearer if we had also had a French or German menu. Scallops were described as grilled... More

We were looking for somewhere to eat for a late Sunday lunch after 3pm, and were happy to find that this brasserie was open and still serving. We chose the big pot of mussels to share between 2 for CHF49. The pot was kept warm at the table by a little burner and was HUGE. It was a very substantial... More

This was a "find". Wonderful food - mussels and scallops to die for. The drink service was excellent, but we had to wait a long time for the main course, and when it finally came, my husband was given a totally different dish - veal with risotto instead of Coquilles St Jacques with risotto".

We had lunch at the Brasserie Lipp in the midst of a shopping marathon in Zürich. Eating french classics like Oysters, Moules and Foie Gras the food was good and tasty. What I like about the Lipp is the frenchness, from the menu to the interior, the table setting and even the slightly grumpy waiters. The deserts are a welcome... More

There is a special seasonal summer combo with 10 small dishes for nibbling with breads at CHF 99. As the portion is huge, it is good enough for 3 persons. It comes with cocktail of chilled vegetable juice, melon and ham, tomato slide with mozzarella cheese, salmon tartare, cocktail shrimp with avocado paste, olives and grilled vegetables, satay with red... There is one thing Brasserie Lipp got right: Unfriendly French service. Otherwise, while the dishes seemed well conceived, the execution was simple. Take, for example, the salmon tartare I had: Under-seasoned and sporting a 2 inch salmon bone. While this emphasizes that the fish was as fresh as one can get in Zurich, it also shows massive sloppiness in the... More

The Lipp is a lovely French style restaurant with both atmosphere and a nice menue. Service minded staff. Not too pricy. Quick service and a professional waiter. Food quality is above, but not the real gourmet. Here you pay for the location, atmosphere and of course nice food. Will most likely be back next time in Zurich.

Good food and attentive service--what you would hope for in a brasserie. Very good avocado with baby shrimp.

We had dinner there during our last stay in Zurich The food was great, maybe the service was a bit slow, but when the food was ready we did not mind the waiting. We spend some time at the roof top in Jules verne panoramic bar quite a nice view to the city

We spent one night in Zürich and at random had dinner at Brasserie Lipp since it was close to our hotel. It was a disappointing meal. Not everything on the menu was available and the dessert, a mille feuille, was at least one day old. The waitress was friendly but especially the wine orders were served very slowly. Last but... Dear Vrijbuiters, Thank you very much for leaving a note. I appreciate that you took the time to write a comment about The Brasserie Lipp. As I can see we were not up to your level. I was surprised to read that the Mille Feuilles was one day old. We produce daily fresh pastry in-house and any day old items... More
