Pleasant surprise in the university neighborhood. Classic antipasta, beautiful ricotta filled pasta, delicious slowly cooked beef. Large range of Italian, French and not enough Swiss wines.

Came here from dinner on Friday night, with seven other people. There was no English menu, and the waiters spoke very, very basic English - we ended up pointing at the menu and hoping for the best. And the best it certainly was! I had a veal ragu, it was divine, and followed with ice cream with chocolate sauce -... More

We dined at Z. Alten Löwen and found a warm friendly place filled with local diners. Our server Massimiliano made our experience delightful. He explained the menu to us and made excellent suggestions. The choices were a mix of Swiss and Mediterranean cuisine. We chose beautifully roasted veal cheeks and a sumptuous beef stew with speck. The wine list offered... More

I have been in this restaurant a couple of times and I have never been disappointed. On both occasions we have choosen the "tavolata" option. It is a nice way to share all the food with all the people sitting at your table. Being an Italian sitting in a restaurant abriad which offer itlaian style kitchen is not easy and... More

I went twice with work colleagues to this restaurant and enjoyed a nice dinner in this small, cosy and charming restaurant. The food is good and not to expensive. I will go there again

We haven been at this restaurant with friends and two children. The tapas are great, vegetarian selection maybe a bit slim. The staff is very friendly. The noise level in the room was a bit high for our taste. Given the price, the restaurant holds what you would expect - in every respect.

in what might be a rather typical neighbourhood restaurant, with a largely local clientele, Z. (which is a imaginative abbreviation of the German Zum or @) Alter Loewe (old lion) offers a nice lunch menu selection of typical Swiss food, but with an excellent quality of ingredients and preparation. Well worth a visit.

Expensive as all restaurants and hotels in Switzerland but at least the quality of food, the care in the preparation and the service is worth the price. Located in the fancy part of the city this old place was carefully renovated and seems to be frequented mostly by locals. The food is Swiss/Italian/International and tastes very real to it's origin.

Had such an enjoyable date night here with my wife. The service was attentive and fun - they also did a great job of guiding us to excellent food and wine choices. The pork belly with a miso sauce was delightful. Our corner / window table was spacious and comfortable despite the restaurant being full and busy. This is definitely... More
