We wanted to have tapas and walked into this restaurant. We were given an English-language menu which had no mention of tapas. I had asked the hostess about tapas and she gave me another menu. My husband has made his mind by then already ( no tapas ). We ordered house wine. The wine was not bad, but it was... More

We had a work dinner here a month ago. The menu is ok and the food is passable but I expected more Spanish flavour. I had the paella and it didn't have any rich flavours that I love about this dish. There are many other restaurants that offer better value for money and definitely much more flavour.

We spent the new-year eve dinner in this terrible restaurant. First of all the restaurant atmosphere is quite awkward, it clearly pretend to be a legit and luxurious Spanish restaurant. It is not! The food in the menu has little to do with Spain, the furnitures are tacky and the staff is rude. We had to wait over 40 minutes... More

A truly lovely venue, wonderful atmosphere and delightful yet simple food. The spectacle of the flambe chicken was great, tasted wonderful too !! Give it a try & you won't go far wrong.

Despite the name the menu card is made up of superior Spanish cuisine in a lovely, intimate dining setting. Expect a warm welcome from your hosts. Service is excellent, friendly and informal according to the needs of your party. In 4 visits I've never been disappointed. One of the best in its district. Personal tip: Home made noodles with Drunken... More

Very cozy and little restaurant located in the heart of Niederdorf in Zurich. If you like good and fresh food, excellent meat and the outstanding Ernesto Noodles (handmade) then I can recommend this place. Very romatic if you go there with your partner for a lovely evening.

"Grober Ernst" doesn't sound at all like spanish haute cuisine. Grober Ernst doesn't look at all like it when you walk by through the back alley in the old part of the Zurich Niederdorf. But when you leave the Grober Ernst you know it is spanish cuisine at its best. Service is excellent both by the owner who is attentive... More

Hidden from the tourist main stream, though very centrally located in the old town of Zurich, the "Grober Ernst" offers an exquisite selection of spanish dishes... Jamon Iberico, and a Vega Sicillia is a decent start ;) Run by the owner! Personal service. Must reserve towards the end of week!

The "Grobe Ernst" has been going strong for many years, not at least thanks to the charismatic owner. Traditional cuisine, focus on meat dishes, pasta with very rich sauces. Make sure you're really hungry as the portions are big! Wine list includes many top picks from Spain, which is not a surprise since the owner is originally from Barcelona. Great... More
