Great food and cool ambiance

Reservation is a must; seems to be full all the time but it's totally worth it. Unpretentious great food (try the foi and tartare). English speaking staff (which helps specially after some drinks) and very friendly. Not a big beer selection but better wine list than I expected. Great for afternoon... read more

Visited this place as it was very close to our hotel. It was busy and there seemed to be lots of locals there which is always a good sign. There was a reasonable choice on the menu and nothing particularly wrong with the food, it just didn't 'wow' in the way that the cost and popularity would have suggested.

We are from the US and an enjoyable meal is just as much the service as the food. I will give the restaurant much credit on the food but the service was just terrible. It took 15-20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were even there after sitting, even longer to get a menu or order something to drink. The... More

Cafe de Grancy has really, really yummy food, great drinks, great staff and a cozy atmosphere! I suppose they change the menu often, so it's a different experience for the palate from time to time, and almost everything I've tasted there is simply delicious, from fish to chicken to cheese platters and desserts. The wine is also good, and the... More

I used to like going here to enjoy a relaxed sunday brunch or drink after work. But now its too full all the time. So I avoid it because I can never get a decent seat or have to squash in with other diners on the same table. Also waiting staff are not that friendly.

We went to the restaurant for a special "deaf and mute" evening (ordering and service in Sign Language, etc). This part was disappointing and reduced to some information on sign language. We ordered their famous steak tartare, it was fine but not outstanding, perfectly cut meat, but on the bland side. Drinks are rather expensive. The place has great ambiance,... More

There are a few places in Lausanne, where cooks really cook and food tastes how it should taste. Café de Grancy is one of them. Real cosy old style french café atmosphere, "bistrot" like, you'll find some original dishes at a reasonable price, and also hand-crafted bier. Swiss restaurants are not really high quality anymore and often overprice and bad... More

I love to go at Cafe de Grancy on weekends mornings, sit in the comfortable chairs while reading a book or chatting with friends. The breakfast is abundant and good, the service is welcoming and smiley, and I fell home while relaxing. There is never too much noise in the Cafe, and I would define it the Swiss version of... Had dinner here on my first night in Lausanne as it was just up the hill from the hotel I was staying in. Did not make a reservation and was placed on the terrace. Luckily weather was not cold. Quality of the food and drink was very good. Started with a salad and had the salmon for my main accompanied... More

Eat here, drink here, relax and feel good. There is not much to fault- service and atmosphere excellent and it has a great vibe. If you don't like low sofas and arm chairs when eating (like me) then make sure you tell them you want a proper table seat but you may have to wait. This is a busy place... More
