This is a fancy restaurant in a fancy hotel. Food is very good, not excellent, while prices are really high. Had it been for a 'normal' restaurant, nobody would be willing to pay so much. But hey, some history, some nice decor, some upmarket people, and voila! There we ate meat, sea food, rice, no deserts for some reason, had... More

We spent a couple of days in Lausanne and daily went to the Palace Hotel to enjoy their spa. We tried the sandwich club at the bar, which was quite humangous:). What we found however extraordinary, was La Brasserie du Grand Chene! The buzzing place around lunch made us feel hungry but we couldn't unfortunately find a table on our... More

This is a great restaurant by international standards. A fantastic classy brasserie at the heart of Lausanne. The dishes are both classic, authentic and full of flavours. I have tried most of the menu, and was never disappointed. The service is very consistent and matches the brasserie atmosphere perfectly. Perfect for an elegant yet not stiff celebration - we will... This is a proper old-fashioned brasserie with all the dishes you'd expect. It may be on the expensive side but I found the quality of both food and service to be very high and hence justifying the prices. What I particularly liked about the place that it does not try to be too chic or modern, and really sticks to... More

Great restaurant in the 5 star hotel Lausanne Palace. Very good brasserie style dishes: home specialties are steak tartare, escalope de veau à la viennoise, filets de perches and an amazing selection of fresh seafood. The daily menu changes according to the "marché" and the season. Service starts at 11:30 throughout the day - which is very convenient for visitors... More

There is no value to that place unless you want to be seen and pay top money for average food. Seemingly there are still enough folks to go for this. The seafood platter "Ecailleur" is slammed onto the table. There is not even a bowl in which one can dump the obvious left-overs like shells, etc.. The wine ordered is... More

From the style to food and service I was totally convinced. I am a fan of Brasserie style restaurants. Often the service is stressed because those types of restaurants are super crowded. Not the Brasserie du Grand Chene - even on a Sunday around lunch time. I had a great time. Food was super delicious. What I saw they had... More

This Brasserie needs to review what it has to offer for the price paid. The waiters tried to diffuse the situation but waiting for an hour for a salad was not quite what is expected of a brasserie of this standing. The actual meal once it arrived was satisfactory though the risotto was over microwaved. Shame.
