A beautiful stop on a beautiful day!

We hiked up to Zum See on a beautiful day in mid-June. They had just re-opened, so the menu was still a bit limited, but very good. I had soup and wine and my husband had an omelette and a Swiss beer. We finished with some of that excellent coffee we had all over Switzerland (boy, do I wish I... read more

We included the Zum See restaurant in two of our day walks from Zermatt just so we could sample their excellent food again and of course enjoy the embience of a 500 year old Hamlet in the beautiful Swiss alps.

I visited Zum See several years ago and was immensely disappointed. I am now correcting that impression. It has changed in all the ways it needed to to make it an excellent summer and winter lunch destination. Not probably, but definitely the best in Zermatt. Where there was a three-sitting lunch approach, that has been done away with and only... More

I am serious, this is my favourite restaurant in either summer or winter. The food, ambiance, views, service and drinks are all fantastic, more so on a sunny day outside on the patio. Go now!... Even if you have been before- always gets better with each visit.

We were walking towards Zermatt and passing this cozy lovely restaurant on the way. It was quite full and can see that they are busy most of the time but the staffs were so friendly and helpful. We had main on the special menu and they were perfect. The vegetables was super fresh and tasty as they said they are... More

Sun, great food, magnificent views and smiles all around. What more could you wish for? Zum See is a joy, time after time again.

We arrived without a reservation and they found an outside table for us. Most tables are for 4 or 6 so if you have a smaller group expect to share a table - perhaps even with a smoker. Expect attitude from the servers if you take a table at lunch time and do not order food. We ordered salad, Rosti,... More

22 hour flight from Australia then 4 hour train from Zurich to Zermatt - so planned an easy 2 hour walk on our first day, carefully fitting in late lunch at Zum See! It is an easy walk from Zermatt, and we were rewarded with a lovely setting, charming service and delicious food. The barley soup is one of my... More

Zum See is one of the best restaurants i have ever been to. The food is outstanding; homemade pasta, homemade gelato, salad greens picked literally right next to your table. The service is extraordinary; friendly inviting and warm. The location is unreal. It is at the bottom of a ski hill and the very definition of a quaint Swiss village!... More

Great attention to produce that they use for preparations of their meals, amazing ambiance, great service, fantastic wine list (with very reasonable prices for mid to high end wines, especially for CH) - practically nothing short of perfect! :-) Make sure to order their Napoleon for desert right when you order mains, since by the time that you need to...
