Great location

Traveled to Zermatt in December with our family. Not everyone skied and Zum See was the ideal location for some of us to take a nice hike up to for lunch and the rest of the skiers to meet us at along the trail! Meal and accommodations were great. Beautiful walk back to town!

Locals know it alteady and we got our recommendation from friends 20 years ago, and it is still the best place to relax after a whole day of skiing. Their mains are all good, but this time, we just had a dessert. Try their "cremeschnitte" - they are just fabulous and light. Best to make this a routine stop and... More

There wasn't a close comparison in Zermatt in terms of food, friendliness, service, and atmosphere. Traditional Alpine but nuanced as opposed to stodgy. Max and Greti are gracious hosts. The Herb Crusted Lamb with Rosti were among the best I've had anywhere, and the hike to get there is worth it.

I highly recommend a visit to Restaurant Zum See. The food was delicious, the staff super friendly and accommodating and the view... well, go and see! :) We ordered a vegetarian option of the rösti, i.e just with eggs and the homemade pasta with porcini mushrooms and creamy herb sauce. Also, we tried the tasty Napoleon Zum See, a traditional... More

We were very much looking forward to visiting the much talked about Zum See during our Zermatt vacation. We made reservations a few weeks ahead to ensure we were able to get the time that worked best for us. The restaurant is just of piste 50 with very clear signs directing skiers. We walked up to the restaurant, and we... More

I cannot praise our lunch with friends at Zum See enough. The food was delicious, I had the sweetbreads, would have preferred rosti to noodles, but hey hoe not the end of the world. Great singing and lethal ski down in the dark, what more could you want?

This review is for a private dinner buyout of Zum See in March 2015. Overall, the food, service and ambiance made this evening the most memorable part of our three-day summit in Zermatt. Food: 5 stars. We had a limited menu and dinner was for 62 people in total, so we had simple dishes that were able to be executed... More

Stopped here for lunch after our plan to ski in Cervinia was foiled by high winds. We skied down from Furi from where the restaurant is signposted. We had not booked and so we're lucky to get a table. Despite it being very cold it was a lovely experience - the sun and blue skies and blankets certainly helped. A... More

There are many restaurants in Zermatt that are excellent. Zum See is one of the truly outstanding one - excellent food, good wine list, and a very nice and charming place overall. Been there 2 times in a week!

My husband and boys skied down from the Gonergrat to meet me for lunch. I hiked up the trail from Zermatt - about 30 minute uphill hike to reach Zum See. The food was very good for a mountain restaurant. We had the sole meunière and homemade pastas for lunch. The dessert of choice is their cream filled Mille fueille... More
