My wife and I stayed in Zermatt for a week and the first night we wanted authentic swiss fondue. We asked several locals and they directed us to Whymper-Stube, which has been around for 65 years and owned by the same family for the past 16 years. We had the pleasure of meeting the daughter during our dinner. The Fondue... More

central location. if you are not familiar with raclette (melted cheese with jacket potatoes and gherkins), this is a good place to try it. available in portions CHF 9 per plate. If you are very hungry, go for the fondue.

Great restaurant in the heart of Zermatt. The meat fondue is delicious, service is great but unfortunately they're retiring in April 2015, so you better hurry up!

We went for a Swiss meal and shared a cheese and a meat fondue in broth, with the kids having schnitzels. The meals were generous and tasty and after dessert we could barely move, but it was CHF50 per head with little alcohol.

The title of this review says it all. I have been coming to Zermatt for 25 years and Every has been a winner. The staff are charming and their fondues, whether cheese, meat or Chinoise are all absolutely delicious. The puddings are pretty fantastic too. Don't visit Zermatt without visiting the Whymper- Stube. You will definitely need to book as... More

We come here to try the tomatoe fondue and were not disappointed. The fondue was really good. The only bad thing was the kid's menu. My son ordered schnitzel and was given frozen nuggets...

Based on reviews we went to this restaurant for our first Fondue in Zermatt . It was a good choice and our starters were tasty and the Gorgonzola fondue was delicious. There is a pleasant atmosphere and the price was a pleasant surprise compared to other Zermatt restaurants.

Wow, we had cheese fondue followed by delish beef fondue with all the trimmings in a quaint hotel just down from the station. Our hotel recommended this and they were spot on for authentic Swiss food. Best fondue we have ever had.

Staff were very friendly and the traditional cheese fondue was excellent. The restaurant has a great alpine atmosphere.

what a great fine. We went there twice during the week. The owners really care about the service and the experience their customers get. The fondue was the best we had and we loved the salad as well .. Fresh and well prepared. Go while you can.
