Firstly make sure you book. We went on a Thursday night and had a lovely 3 course meal. We decided to be a bit more adventurous with our meals and ordered crumbed goats cheese to start. Venison and spatzle with juniper ju and jugged dear for main and toblerone parfait for dessert (after all we are at the Matterhorn) it... More

It looks and feels a bit old fashion or traditional as they would say in Zermatt, but the food is very well prepared. The service is friendly and if you like to have a drink afterwards you can sit outside heated and with blankets. They have all kinds of traditional meat but also a few pastas, not an enormous card... We walked into the Old Zermatt Restaurant at around 2 pm by chance and ordered the lunch of the day. It consisted of salad as a starter, followed by a generous portion of delicious lamb curry with Basmati rice and vegetables. The excellent quality of the food and the friendly service impressed us. What is more, we were positively surprised... More

We had our best meal in Zermatt here. We had soup followed by two of the fish dishes and managed to squeeze in some sorbet for dessert. Service was very good and very friendly. Food was delicious. We each had a glass of wine and bill was 125 cf, which was approximately the same price that we paid in all... More

Old Zermatt is modern restaurant 50 m from Kirchenbrucke- Zermatt village. Contrary to the name it is pretty modern, attached to a 4 star boutique hotel. Food was very good on the overall, our table had Wiener schnitzel - a giant portion, delicious Kurbis soup, quite an exceptional c. St Jacque- scallops with lobster sauce. The bread and dips to... The bar was a very nice location for trying some local swiss scotch (8 yr single malt) and local wine, pared with a nice cheese and meat plate. We recommend the inside for small intimate group; it was nice and quiet while we were there. Others in our group had dinner there and spoke highly of the service.

Take a walk around this part of Zermatt just off the main street to see the remaining houses and barns from centuries ago. It is a very interesting area.
