Time for specialeaties. Time for Tradition Julen. "Everyone is welcome in Restaurant Julen." That was as important for Meinrad Julen as it is today for the third generation of the family business. In the morning local workers stop by for their coffee break, at noon the traditional cuisine attracts businessmen, families and passers-by, and in the evening the cozy restaurant serves gourmet food based in traditional cuisine. New menus are created daily with love and passion. From the salad bar to beef tenderloin and lamb specialties to the hearty cheese fondue and dessert buffet on Thursdays, the a la carte menu has something for all tastes. Enjoy our carefully selected assortment of international wines. Make sure to reserve a table early!

Great meal!

My wife and I dined at Restaurant Julen on our last night in town and we did not regret it. Location: located on the east side of the river, this place is very easy to get to from about anywhere in town. There are many shops and other restaurants around, so once you are done, you can still stroll... read more

Authentic Swiss restaurant with excellent food and pleasant atmosphere. We have really enjoyed our dinners there during our stay in Zermatt.

I liked the choice of menu and price options, attentive service and ambiance. Great salad buffet daily as part of menu and wonderful Thursday dessert buffet spread!

We booked it online but they could not find my booking until I produced their email confirmation. All was forgiven when the food arrived. Lamb shank, veal wrapped in bacon and lobster with noodles were all delicious. With a bottle of wine, the bill for 4 came toCHF 230.

What a disappointment... We walked in and asked for a table and the waiter told us that he would give us the table behind straight away once the people had finished. Thus we went to the bar for a drink.. Waited and waited and ... Yes waited.. He just never came to get us again.. We had seen that our... More

Made a solo sidetrip to Zermatt while on business. Had read previous Tripadvisor reviews that the lamb at Restaurant Julen was a speciality. I showed up alone without a reservation at opening on a Sunday evening. The waitress politely told me that they were fully booked and that I should try their other restaurant upstairs. But when she the disappointment... More

Lovely cosy restaurant traditionally decorated. Staff were very friendly. Enjoyed the house cheese fondue which was very tasty, although I would have liked some potatoes as well as just white bread with it. Best thing was the huge dessert buffet option for 18CHF per person - lots of mini desserts, expertly made and delicious... make sure you leave enough room... More

The saddle of lamb was tender and just melted in my mouth! The chocolate mousse was " to die for" light, creamy and presented beautifully. Lovely, friendly waitress, highly recommend this lovely Resturaunt!

This is a restaurant with a well-known reputation, which is why you need to reserve a table at least a week prior in season. Even so, we still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. It was, however, well worth the effort. The salad bar is not huge but quite sufficient. The Hirschrücken was done medium rare and was... More

Had a great meal at the Restaurant Julen with my son. I had perfectly cooked veal in cream sauce, and my son had cheese fondue. We selected the restaurant based on the recommendation of the women staffing the desk at our hotel.
