Time for specialeaties. Time for Tradition Julen. "Everyone is welcome in Restaurant Julen." That was as important for Meinrad Julen as it is today for the third generation of the family business. In the morning local workers stop by for their coffee break, at noon the traditional cuisine attracts businessmen, families and passers-by, and in the evening the cozy restaurant serves gourmet food based in traditional cuisine. New menus are created daily with love and passion. From the salad bar to beef tenderloin and lamb specialties to the hearty cheese fondue and dessert buffet on Thursdays, the a la carte menu has something for all tastes. Superb food and choices.

A real variety of choices. They have a large sheep herd and lamb is served in their restaurant. Everything was perfect along with the night we chose fondue.

Typical Swiss restaurant recommended to us by our hotel. We had a great cheese fondue one night and loved it so much returned for a raclette ( which was good but overpriced, rather like the extortionate price of the wine but that seems to be par for the course in Zermatt). A special word for our very professional waitress Eva... More

We had dinner one night at this hotel , situated right across The Bellerive, where we were staying. We hadn't booked a table. But on entering the restaurant, a very pleasant waiter Mr. Morris, attended to us and managed to find a table for the two of us. We had the plate of the day, which comes with soup and... More

The good folks at the Schloss Hotel recommended this place and made a reservation in the upstairs restaurant. We did manage to get into the lower restaurant but found it too crowded, low ceilinged and hot so we went back upstairs. Enjoyed a delicious dinner of their own farm raised lamb....be sure to give it a try

My boyfriend and I decided on the Julen Restaurant after a long day of hiking. At first we were going to order the fondue, however he wanted to have the lamb with asparagus. I changed my mind and chose to order the beef filet with asparagus, since our fondue plans fell through. It was the best decision! His lamb was... More

We ate here because our original target restaurant was booked until 8:30, and we wanted a 6:30 reservation. Lucky us! The menu is extensive, offering both traditional Wallis dishes and international food. The wine list is not spectacular, and it suffered the all too common problem of not matching the wines actually available. (It also was out of synch with... More

This restaurant has a terrace that is next to the river and which offers stunning view of the Matterhorn. The food was excellent, as was the service. I found the wine a little on the expensive side for half litre bottles but for the view, food and service, that criticism should be taken with a pinch of salt.

We, being a group of tired Zermatt Marathon runners and spouses, really enjoyed a well prepared 5-course dinner, presented by very friendly waitstaff out on the terrace. May be a bit more pricey than other places, but it's a great value.
