Cheese Fondue

Loved the decor and authentic food. I had the cheese fondue. Portion was for one but it could feed two! Delicious!

Schaeferstube is the traditional restaurant out of the Julen Restaurants, and probably the most popular. The food was fantastic and the decor and mood of the restaurant are wonderful. You really get the Zermatt experience upon arriving to this restaurant! Prices are aligned with most other restaurants in Zermatt, relatively pricey for us Australians but normal for Zermatt. The servings... More

Had dinner at the Schäfterstube. It's quite a mountain place to eat. Lots of wood, stuffed sheep everywhere and a fireplace. They do a lot of lamb from the fireplace - I heard guests raving about it. I had some raclette and beef which was absolutely great. The raclette I very much recommend - it's absolutely creamy. The only thing... More

Our first night in Zermatt took us to this well renowned lamb restaurant. Beautifully quaint restaurant close to town centre. The only downside was the price...we paid 50 francs for a loin of lamb and got 2 servings each...both of which had medallions on them and the same garlic potatoes. This surprised us as we didn't order medallions and even... More

My wife, adult daughter and I had a wonderful dinner at. Restaurant Schaeferstube as part of of visit to Zermatt The service, presentation, food, dessert all were fantastic. As things are in Zermatt it is expensive but the level of service etc would make this an expensive meal no matter where you are. The ambiance was very nice. We do... More

We celebrated a 60th birthday at this restaurant and had an absolutely fantastic and memorable experience. We all had different lamb dishes and each one was just as spectacular as the next. We had the lamb knuckle, the lamb chops, the gigot, the entrecote, and the lamb curry. We all loved the meals, but the lamb curry was definitely a... More

You can have fondue and racelette (the traditional kind) here, and I am sure it is good. However, the meat is what you should have, and the lamb in particular. We were stunned by how delicious the meat was. Prepared freshly in the midst of the restaurant at an open fire, you get this great taste of fire and spices... More

A couple with two children, we walked in about 7 pm and were lucky enough to be offered a table in the cellar grill. The ambiance is wonderful, retaining an old Zermatt charm. Service was friendly and efficient. The fresh local food and wine were excellent. My local sliced grilled lambs tongue was memorable. We also had classic raclette. And... More

Daughter had a cheese fondue, she was 11 years old and ate the majority thourghly enjoying the flavour. Husband had Lamb, again beautifully cooked, generous... More

Great little restaurant located in a basement. Lovely rustic ambiance. Service was both swift and kind. Very extensive wine list. Wonderful desserts. But the food...I met two friends there and we all had different lamb dinners and all three of us agree it was the best lamb we've ever had. Tender, tasteful and cooked to perfection. I had the lamb... More
