So typical and succulent!

The place to be if you want to eat local and very good, in a not less typical and local framework! Specialists in raclette and lamb, they serve also home-made dried season beef which is awesome. Professional welcome, traditional clothes & decoration. To be recommended.

The restaurant has a very cosy, rustic and welcoming ambience and offers a wide range of Wallis specialties and excellent wines. Their cheese fondue was the best I have ever had. The staff are extremely friendly and we were repeatedly asked by the owner/manager whether everything was OK. Certainly to be recommended.

I've been there 2 times. Everything was very good, the people, the meal and also the place itself. There is no word to describe how good is the lamb! Well done!

For many years we enjoy dinner at Schaferstube with our family. Friendly atmosphere, great traditional dishes including fondue, raclette and also very good lamb dishes. Children are always happy with the kids menu as well. On our way to Zermatt we are already talking about this place so that says it all!

This traditional chalet restaurant was the best we found in Zermatt. We ate at plenty of high end restaurants but in terms of traditional Swiss food, this place should not be missed. Try the lamb here as it is their specialty. The rack of lamb comes 2 ways and both were delicious. The service here was so nice, it was... More

We dined here on Valentine's Day. The room is decorated in traditional Swiss style. The fondue was served with a large variety of sauces and was excellent. The waitress was very nice and the service was great. We were given the liquid in the fondue mixed with sherry after we were done as a kind of soup. It was delicious.... More

This restaurant has over 100 years history. The internal decoration was of traditional chalet style. The raclete and cheese fondue was very good. We also had the lamb meat fondue and trio of lamb. The breed of lamb, black nose sheep, was special to the locality. It was the most tender and delicious lamb I ever had. We also had... More

Traditional Swiss food deliciously prepared and well tasting. Good service. Menu not very children-friendly however staff helpful to find solutions. Recommended primarily for grown-up people.

Great food! The raclette is superb. The lamb ragout great. The family with the screaming child I could have done without.

We really enjoyed the traditional Alpine decor. Don't miss the grilled lamb. Absolutely the best lamb we have eaten, as well as the most generous portions we have experienced anywhere in Europe. The deserts are really special and are the perfect end to an excellent meal. The service was friendly and caring. If we had more time we would go... More
