Nice atmosphere and nice service

This restaurant is a nice Swiss traditional place where they cook on the fireplace. The meat is very well done and the atmosphere is family like. We mistakenly came to this restaurant on the wrong night but they still accommodated us. We had outstanding grilled meat skewers - absolutely delicious with a nice sauce and their potato gratin was the best we had on our weeklong trip to Switzerland. Restaurant is nicely located on the Main Street in Zermatt. Service was also exceptional. The waiter knew... More

This is a restaurant that ticks so many boxes. It is small and very cosy downstairs affair with a very good ambience that includes some rather racy photos of semi-clad ladies on the walls! Four of us ate there for the first time and we were bowled over. My friends who are locals rate this as their new favourite. They... More

We discovered this restaurant on our first night in Zermatt. We tried their champagne fondue, What a good choice! Super fluffy, probably the best fondue so far. Not to miss Their plate of dried meats that are produced locally, good service, good wine choices.

My wife and I ate at a lot of great restaurants during our Week stay in Zermatt and this was one of the best. The atmosphere is very cool, romantically lit, light music and an open fire grill where you can see them cook. The atmosphere is probably the best in Zermatt, especially if you are looking for a romantic... More

I have been to Zermatt several times, and always come back to Le Gitan. The village is full of fantastic restaurants, but this might just be my favourite. Great atmosphere, nice personell and amazing food. Have the filet of lamb!

This place is a must visit in Zermatt. Check out f.i. their Schwarzwurzelsuppe with coquilles St. Jacques and their grilled lamb dishes. You wont get dissapointed. Excellent service from staff. The recommended grappas were amazing (and hitted like a truck). We will be back soon.

Great food. Excellent Service. The restaurant is very near the church square where everybody goes for midnight so it is a nice place to eat for New Year's Eve and then be where all the action is!

We read about this restaurant online and had our hotel book us a reservation. It is difficult to secure , so plan ahead. Our family of 4 was promptly seated upon arrival.. The restaurant was full to capacity, tables close to one another in small alcoves. Good service and did not feel rushed. We enjoyed our meal which was largely... More

We had a dinner with friends in busy Zermatt on NewYear's day. The place had to be booked a week in advance, and we took the early reservation slot (19:00). The second seating is at 21:00. The place is lit primarily by candles, and was completely full when we arrived, but the noise level was very acceptable, so we could... More
