Great Fun!

When in Switzerland, one has to have fondue! Recommended by our hotel, we spent a wonderful evening at The Gitan. Delicious fondue and amazing service- a single serving is enough for two!

On our honeymoon and so far in 5 days between Zermatt and Gstaad this place has had the best meal. Try the lamb and also the beef skewers. Limited choices on single malts but great dining.

We came to this restaurant from a recommendation from our hotel. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. They were very accommodating to our 9 year old. The potatoes au gratin were unbelievably good!!! Service was friendly and restaurant was clean. It is a great find with a good wine list too!!

Came to Le Gitan on the recommendation of our concierge and had the best meal we've had in Switzerland! Fantastic food, lovely owners serving and they even offered off-menu options for our six-year-old. Wish we were here another night just so we could dine here again tomorrow!

Went here for dinner with friends. The 10 CHF mixed salad is overprised for the portion you get, but it tasted nice. We had the rack of lamb (you need to be minimum two people) and it was an absolutely amazing two-course dish. Due to a 9 month long lasting "medical condition" I needed to have the lamb cooked more... More

Forget the Mattherhorn! Well, we had to as it did not show up for the whole weekend. But we did not mind because we found The other reason to come back to Zermatt, El Gitan! Finally, a restaurant in this expensive Swiss skiing resort where the service is great, the food is delicious, light & tasty, and the wine was... More

This place should be higher up on Trip Advisors list. We couldn't get a table in the main restaurant so we took one in the grill at the back. I think this was a bit of luck as the place was very atmospheric. I had the kebab which was cooked to perfection and as it was cooked on an open... More

Value for money is a rare thing in Zermatt, but this place is quite reasonably priced (wine is expensive however). There were 7 of us. The menu offers something for all tastes, including some Swiss favorites. All meals were excellent. Fantastic attitude of all of the staff, who were happy to have a laugh with us. I was surprised that... More

My boyfriend and I are both lovers of steak and this place did not disappoint us. We were welcomed by the lovely staff and seen to the bar as our table wasn't ready. We got drinks right away and then were seated after a few minutes. The salmon starter was delicious and we both had the steak fillet. Best restaurant... More
