Food was Excellent; Waitress with a Sense of Humor

Four of us went in for supper, were sitted immediately. Waitress was a little sarcastic but it was just her sense of humour. I can see why other reviews might have found her rude but we enjoyed her. The fondue was amazing, one of our party had the pork cordon blue with risotto and said it was... read more

My husband and I went for lunch - twice, during our stay in Zermatt. The food, service and atmosphere is great. We order the house wine - rosé - affordable and compliments the food. Try the fondue for fun, but ask your waitress to recommend what the locals eat at her place - this would be the best choice. A... More

Out of our month-long trip to Europe, this was one of our favorite meals we enjoyed (the other was Restaurant Wymperstub, also in Zermatt). We shared the four (maybe six?) cheese fondue and LOVED it. It was so flavorful! It's amazing how great a bunch of melted cheese can taste with the right spices and seasonings. The cheese fondue was... More

Living in Switzerland can make you sick of bad service, astronomical prices and cheese, especially if you're a fan of traditional Swiss fayre. This little place, however, was enough to almost restore my faith in Swiss restaurants. Friendly, attentive, efficient service – my next plate of raclette à gogo was always ready before I was – along with reasonable prices... More

after checking out a few restaurants we took a chance and went in and landed up eating in the basement which actually was quite quaint, warm and cosy. the lady serving was full of beans and was doing an excellent job alone of handling all the tables which included two tour groups as well. we ordered the pork and lamb... This quaint little restaurant just off the main road through Zermatt offers all the expected fondue's and rosti's at a good few franc below some other places in town. We ate there yesterday and the food was great, the portions more than we could manage, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I can certainly recommend Restaurant Stadel to anyone looking... A wet day in zermatt drew us in here. Ostensibly a traditional eatery with pretty wood paneling. I echo the views of some other reviews - the lady in charge is exceptionally rude. Why bother being in the service industry if you can't be bothered? On 3 occasions she rolled her eyes at us - when we asked if our... More

1. Visiting with a friend from the US and wanted to try different restaurants in the area. 2. Walked in as the inside of the restaurant was unoccupied. 3. was met by a rude employee who didn't even ask us where we preferred to sit... She directed us to eat outside. 4. Person who took our order was more pleasant... More

they just served the best cheese fondue I've ever had and if i had known they were that great after quite a number of fondue visits subsequently, I would have gone to this place once again - a fondue even for breakfast. It's something that you simply don't mind wasting your calories on.
