Light and airy, great atmosphere

Good food and wine on offer, all dishes were flavoursome, well cooked and delivered promptly with friendly service. The atmosphere was friendly and fun as tables are located in a large open space with high ceilings.

We had just arrived at Zermatt, very cold and frozen all over, as we were walking along the Vispa river, we noticed this restaurant. We already planned for grills for dinner that day and it’s look invited us in. Though we just dropped in without any reservation, the staffs were nice enough to accommodate us. However I would suggest to... More

This typical place is definitely a must in terms of grill, made in the middle of the main room amongst the guests and directly in the fireplace ;-) The dishes are large and generous (including side ones) and the personnel is very friendly and professional. A must to go with family or friends after a nice ski day or outdoor... More

I've had the "perlhuhn" (Guineafowl) which came in two servings, it was absolutely delicious The grill was done in a fireplace in front of everyone (zero food smell), very nice show.

The meat at Chez Max Julen is probably the best you can get in Zermatt. This time I had the filet of venison, which was grilled to perfection. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Don't forget to make a reservation!

We enjoyed both a fondue chinoise and an à la carte meat/grill dinner here. Definitely a rather popular spot (quite busy) but the staff has it under control and guests are well looked after. The fondue chinoise was very, very good and copious. It's all you can eat and they do encourage you to ask for more... unfortunately we could... More

This seems to be a restaurant where you just can't walk in and get something to eat, but you have to make table reservation well in advance. Liked by the locals, it appeared. When we had our dinner there (veal liver, tasty), the house was full and looked too much like the staff was stretching themselves. Wine list wasn't impressive... More

Very good restaurant with traditional Swiss ambiance. We couldn't have asked for a nicer waitress and chef. The only negative was where we were sat which was on the second level right next to the trash and plating station so all through out dinner there was a flurry of action and plating and plate scrapping which was a bit distracting.... In searching for restaurants when in Zermat, we found this restaurant on the web and it sounded very interesting. Upon arrival (after finding out it was on the lower level and we were on the main street - oops). it was warm and inviting. The service was among the best we have had anywhere and the food was excellent. My... More
