I'm a local and I went there after having heard about it from friends... I found it expensive and the coffee and cake we had were not particularly good, for sure not worth what we paid for. You can give it a go because the interior is very nice, but otherwise there are many other better options if you find... More

This place was recommended for our visit to Lugano and it lived up to its reputation. The historic restaurant is comfy with a good atmosphere and friendly service. The coffee's are good but the real star in this place is the vast array of delicious cakes and pastries. Have a diffetent one each day for a week and you will... More

If you are in Lugano, you must go to the Grand Cafe Al Porto. To be in a place with such an interesting history is incredible by itself. But the sweet goodnesses behind the glass case are so pleasing to the eye and even more delicious to the tastebuds. As you sip your delicious coffee and savor your tasty choice... More

Best thing to say, I would love to go back! Food, service and ambiance was top quality. Only little 'crib' - it can be very noisy when full.

Tired of walking? In need for a nice place where to drink a good coffee, or a cup of tee, eating something small but " wow". You found your place! This historical restaurant will offer you a place inside, or some small tables outside. Their sweet are the most beautiful in the city, and the athmosphere is the same as... More

This is one of the best places in Lugano to stop and have a café and a pastry. Each pastry is elegant and delicious. The pear tart is a favorite... but there isn't one that any of us have tasted that isn't a favorite. Their pastries are a bit pricey, but so is everything in Lugano. They are really worth... More

After reading the reviews, we decided not to eat here but bought the panettone and chocolates to take away. The lady at the counter was really friendly and walked us through the entire range of chocolates. We decided on the Grand Cru Praline and was not disappointed. The panettone which we had for breakfast the next day was sublime! But... More

Went for a breakfast because the Grand cafe was recommended by Lonely Planet. Unfortunately the service was unfriendly, and the menu only in italian. Coffee was good but not exceptional, all in all not good value for your money and not that nice experience.

My mom and I visited the cafe last December. The ambiance really attracted us. We did not receive nice welcome from the staff who seat us. He looked at us from head to toe before he seat us which we found extremely rude and inappropriate. We shared a mille-feuille and it was really tasty. But when we it comes to... More

We stopped by for a quick brunch. It was admittedly very busy, no excuse for the staff to be so rude though. They should be able to manage volume more effectively. Food was very good, and atmosphaire very nice, they whole experience was a major disappointment though
