My first fondue

My husband and I were finishing off a European driving tour and thought Davos would be a good one night stay. After reading some reviews I thought we should try Bistro Gentiana. To my delight it was straight across from our hotel, which was a bonus. This was my first fondue I have ever had and it... read more

We ate here for my Mrs's birthday. It was a fabulous experience. The Morchel fondue is to die for! The service was very very fast, friendly, and all-round superb.

We went here to have a cheese fondue, it was superb. We followed by having coffee and the most excellent grappe. It's small and more expensive but you do need to book, but well worth it. It's known for it's snails. We are definitely going back.

If you want to get a good fondue in a small cozy space this is the place to go. The service (was there a long time ago) was friendly and the salads were good. Didn`t try any of the desserts. Very cozy and great when it is snowing. Will visit this winter again!

After reading some of the reviews on Bistro Gentiana, I decided to have dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is small, about 6 tables inside and about 4 outside. The interior is decorated to the local taste, very nice and quaint. I ordered 'raclette' and it was indeed a good choice. The size was just right and it was... More

Everything was very good. I have been there for two dinners since i enjoyed both the place and the served dishes. The alpine cheese fondue with herbs and bacon deserves to be tried. On one hand generally the servings are generous, while on the other the bill is always quite high (it's weird for an italian to pay 44chf for... More

The fondue was quite nice but very pricey. I was impressed that the restaurant went out of its way to accomodate some of the special dietry requirements of our group. The waiters were friendly and while they couldn't really speak English they made a good effort to explain things and help us navigate the menu.

We didn't enjoy the cheese fondue at all. Maybe as we're Australian and we're not use to it, but it tastes like it had alcohol in it and left a bad taste in our mouths. It was so expensive ave - 38 franks per portion. Also we weren't advised on the size, we bought one each as it had per... More

This restaurant in central Davos Platz next to the casino offers fondue and local snail specialities. The best about the place is the interior design and the artworks from various artists. The food was also good: I had the peasant's salad and Gentiana-style snails, my GF the Wienerschnitzel. It is also a good place to have a cappuccino or tea.

My wife and I went here on recommendation from our hotel. We thought we would try the snail soup as it was the specialty of the house. It was bland, missing flavour depth and had a big dollop of whipped cream just added to the top. Then we had the a cold meat plate with a porcini mushroom cheese fondue.... More
