The Baseltor is one of the "reliable values" in Solothurn - nice setting, good, creative and inventive food, very nice setting and - more or less - reasonable prices. And, yeah, the service is outstanding - professional WITH a smile, which is really rare, these days. The menu card is inventive, changes often and has the only default that it... More

I have lived in Solothurn for over 14 years and this restaurant is still one of my favorites. The food is always high quality the menu is varies with season keeping a few classics. Especially raost or all vegetables are the best I ever have eaten at restaurant. Service is friendly and attentive. The only drawback that I have experienced... More

OK, it's nasty hot this week in Solothurn. Sweat all day at work, take a quick cold shower and try to find something for dinner that will keep your cool. Seated outside, begging for any breeze that might happen by. Listening to the cathedral bells, and watching the locals get home. Waitron was completely knowledgeable on menu and wines -... More

Being the last three nights in Solothurn, the restaurant became my favourite one. Food is great, service is optimal. And looking out from the window to the wonderful church makes the dinner complete. It deserves an higher rank in tripadvisor.

What a complete and utter disgrace. We've never had such lousy food in Switzerland. Old and wilted lettuce, fish was rotten. I am seriously considering calling the health inspectors.

This place is very nice for serveral reasons: first of all the quality of the food, the restaurant belongs to the "slow food" circuit which is kind of guarantee. Second: the atmosphere is quite cool, artistic-like and young. Third: it's in the centr of town and it's opened on Sunday since morning to evening continuously, which in Switzerland should not... Upon my first visit they had a limited menu only with a choice of traditional flat bread with sour cream topped with emmental and either veggies or meats. I chose the veggie option and it was okay but not that fabulous. Bit rich and sickly so glad I only had a small one. Served on a chopping board by a... More

I went to Baseltor with a large group of 14 people. They handled us quite well, though I'm sure we were a handfull. The food was quite good. The menu was a mix of traditional Swiss and Northern Italian with a good selection of fresh, seasonal foods.

We stopped for lunch last week at the Baseltor on our way from Geneva to Zurich, the hotel/restaurant is right next to the convenient Baseltor parking garage and right at the beginning of the main street through the historic part of Solothurn, a beautiful small city filled with baroque buildings. The food (very varied, with lots of local dishes) and... More
