Weekend getaway Lucerne

Loved The Old Swiss House! Was Hesitate about it being touristy at first - and even though a lot of people go there, the schnitzel and chocolate mouse were worth it! Good wine too!

The place is pretty fancy, love the décor and the ambience. The food was well presented and taste was good. Their lobster bisque with cognac was especially nice. The experience of watching the server making the wiener schnitzel in front of you was interesting although there's not anything special to say about the flavour. When the waitress came to clear... Even if it is really expensive there - the meal and fodd is great, the atmosphere is unique - you will be there with sporty people and or business people - almost every style is there. And you need to eat the "Wiener Schnitzel" which will be made right next to you at your table! It is the best Schnitzel... More

Old Swiss House looks like the perfect tourist trap. Directly between the bus stop for all the visitors and Löwendenkmal in its pseudo Swiss mountain style you would think this is an absolute no-go but in fact it is much better than expected. Tried it with colleagues out of curiosity and it was really not that bad. Food and service... More

It was a Saturday, just arrived from SF to Lucerne, headed out to the restaurant that was highly recommended, after a good half hour walk, it began to pour rain! My daughter and I arrived to the very elegant restaurant soaking wet. The maitre d', looked at us in disgust, said we were crazy to be out on a Saturday... More

My husband and I recently had lunch here. The food is good and the restaurant's decor is quite charming if a bit touristy. I had the veal that seems to be their most popular dish cooked at your table side. If you're looking for light healthy fare, this is not your place. But if you aren't afraid of some carbs... More

It's hard not to be impressed when they cook the Wiener Schnitzel at your table! It's an exquisite place in all senses and the owner is there to make sure everyone is having a great time. Highly recommend!

Last visit has been a while back so we decided on a Friday to book a table for that night 8.30. As we got to the restaurant just before 8.30, we were told the table wasn't ready, which was okay as we wanted to have a drink at the bar first anyway. While the waiter went to look for the... More

Walked by the restaurant while going to see the Lion Memorial and decided to check it out for lunch. We were warmly greeted, our coats hung, and escorted to our banquette by a young woman in national dress. We ordered the three-course menu of the day and thoroughly enjoyed the salad, the veal, and cheese plate. The surroundings were elegant... More

What a dinner to remember! It all started with Johana (aka Hunny) who owns the place telling us the story of how old are the furniture, hand carved ceiling (18th century) and how long this place is run by her family (4 generations). Great hospitality! I've had the warm leaver as an appetizer - one of the best! Carpaccio was... More
