Dinner with atmosphere in Luzern

we spent a bit of time looking for a restaurant walking in the older part of town. We were pleased that we came upon this establishment that was closed to the river. Bodu is a great restaurant and one of my favourites. Located in old town Lucerne directly at the river Reuss. They have amazing food and a great wine list. The ambiente is french bistro style and feels very authentic. Try their sirloin with the herb butter and pommes alumettes. Heavenly! They are quite pricey. And I don't understand how some... More

So let's get to the point...everything in Lucerne is expensive! Try this place! The front is one street behind the river. But you go through and the dining room faces the river! There is a terrace over the river. We got a window seat in dining room. They specialize in fish. I got the special Cous Cous del mar which... More

We had a lovely meal complete with candlelight. My husband had the lamb and was quite pleased and I had the grilled salmon which was delicious. We started by sharing the white asparagus which had the best homemade hollandaise sauce. Good meal, and good service. We ate at 6 when the restaurant and watched the tables fill up. We were... More

This Is really a great restaurant to find in Luzern. Design look and feel are French Brasserie. However, this is as far as it goes. We were a party of 3. We ordered a large bottle of Water, still, and received small bottles with no explanation, talked about a Gin and Tonic, But Finally ordered Champagne as It was recommended,... More

We had a very good meal in this picturesque little restaurant overlooking the Reuss river. This place has great atmosphere helped by having very agreeable staff. We ate an excellent steak tartar and a good fish plate. Prices are reasonable for the centre of this beautiful town. Recommended.

While walking through the old town streets in Luzern looking for a place for dinner we stumbled upon the Brasserie Bodu. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were immediately shown to a white clothed table and offered a pre-dinner drink. The menu, while not extensive, is varied and will cover most tastes. We opted not to have starters and... More

We've been going to Bodu for many years, not that we're frequent fine diners, but when we do want something more than the ordinary, then we usually end up here. I like the fact that you can have a very nice meal, white table cloth, good wine without it costing an arm and a leg as it would in other... More

For the best (and only in my opinion) brasserie in Luzern, head over to Joel (see my other review). The menu is trying to look authentic, but it doesn't taste it. The staff appears transient, and do not have that "Brasserie" style. The atmosphere matches the rest. Pass.

Even though we did not have a reservation, we were greeted graciously and fortunately seated right away. We noticed many local Swiss in the restaurant; glad that we were not in the typical tourist stop. We felt immediately that we were in Paris again. Service was excellent as was the food. Best escargot I have had in a long time!... More
