We looked for this restaurant thanks to TA. Went for dinner on a weekday 2 weeks ago. Place was not very occupied. Hosts very gracious, helpful and cheerful. Helped with the menu (as we do not know German/Italian) and prepared vegetarian menu for us. They explained everything on the menu in terms of ingredients and specialties of the same. It... More

We would never have found this restaurant without Trip Advisor, but we were so glad we made the effort to find it (it is slightly off the beaten track, and the opposite end of town to our hotel). We were given a very warm welcome, and the service was great: friendly and attentive. We were given some bread with delicious... More

I went for a business lunch. We had a set menu for 54 francs which included salad or soup (an awesome tomato soup), gnocchi al ragu (also great) and then a 200g steak with potatoes and grilled tomatoes with rocket and a lovely herb butter. Excellent value and superb flavours. The only (slight) complaint - we asked for the meat... More

We were at Geissmatt on Saturday night wth a group of 8 ppl and had a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere great. If you're in Lucerne and don't want to have a 'touristy' experience check this out. It is a little out of the way but still easy to get to.

We managed to reserve the last table for Saturday night in the afternoon so we were really lucky! The place os completely booked, and I can understand why, the food is simply amazing and the atmosphere is cozy. Upon arriving you immediately receive a plate with fresh cut Parma Ham and bread before the daily changing fixed menu is explained.... More

I read so many reviews of restaurants where people say they had one of the best meals of their lives, and sometimes I wonder at the hyperbole. We live 30 minutes outside of NYC. Our vacation included some really wonderful restaurants in Paris. But, the meal we had at Restaurant Geismatt was one of the top culinary experiences we've ever... More

Best kind of ambience - tucked on a side street, small restaurant but has a good buzz of energy, feels like walking into a friends kitchen with candles everywhere and bottles of wine and limoncello about. Tasteful but far from stuffy. Pre-fixe menu is great - parma ham/bread, salad, pasta, meat, and choice of desserts. Don't be put off if... More

Beautifully thought out five course set menu, which is perfectly executed. Complimented by a relaxed ambience and fantastic staff. Flavour combinations were carefully thought out and the whole evening was without fault.

We were torn on the last warm night of a 2 week stay in Switzerland between location - dining in a river/lake side restaurant - or culinary skill. We decided on the latter and chose Geissmat based on previous reviews. We were warmly greeted by the delightful Swiss owner who showed us to a hitherto hidden terrace overlooking the river.... More

Lovely restaurant with a very homely feel to it, which feeling is only reinforced thanks to the very welcoming and entertaining attitude of the owners and waiters (who speak a variety of foreign languages). The evening dinner is composed of a set menu (5 course). There also is a nice selection of wines. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be... More
