My first stop when I arrive in Geneva. Informal and traditional restaurant located close to the UN. Maybe the best place where to have a fondue in Geneva. Not really expensive and excellent! Even the food is excellent, service is fair.

We had the great pleasure of eating dinner at Cafe du Soleil this week. We had a lovely, lively, sympatico outdoor meal with our adult son and his girlfriend: three steak entrees and the fish. All were delicious . . . and the frites with the boeuf were outstanding. Friendly service with kind folk who tolerated my broken French with... More

...purely as a different experience. It was not anything spectacular or out of this world, but pleasant all the same. We made a reservation via phone on a Sunday evening given we read on the web it gets busy if not full. When we arrived the place was quite empty and they sent us upstairs to be seated. We found... taken here by friends - one of their favourite 'local's. Was just beautiful & visually meeting the stereotypical perception of what a Swiss restaurant *should* look like... From the exterior with the red geraniums to the cobblestone floor to cross-section of families and couples and the flirtatious wait staff...to dogs at peoples feet and men smoking & chatting...had the lentil... The restaurant is always full, but it is worth the visit because the food is really good. The genuine Swiss fondue is very special.

This was me and my husband's first try on cheese fondue and it was awesome! There is white wine inside which makes the cheese fondue very smooth and it doesn't make you feel sick of it at all. Served with only bread. We tried their steak as well and it was to die for! We were there very early (before... More

The best fondue in Geneva, but all the other dishes are excellent also. Service friendly and efficient. They have a small separate room on the ground floor for about 12-14 people at the back which is tight but private , excellent for friends, family or business gathering ,

This is we're the locals eat fondue, it's authentic, noisy and a really squashed experience but worth a visit. It's up a steep hills so take a taxi up from the city centre but an Easy walk back down.

Ask any local to recommend a good fondue place in Geneva and they will recommend cafe du soleil. I was on a business trip and was fortunate to be taken there for lunch by one of the locals. We ordered a side of the dry aged ham and prosciutto, which is a traditional accompaniment. A true gastronomical delight, how can... More

Very nice place. We had the starter of cheese, fondue for 2 people and two deserts for 99 francs. Very well priced for Geneva. We had the luck to be at the terrace, during the night, and the ambience was wonderful. A little slow to give us the bill, but as a summary, an excellent place to visit. Fondue was... More
