Go there for the fondue

Dish of the day is often good, but they are better at fondue... i like to say that it is the best in town... excluding mine of course. There is no such place than the cosi terrace of le café du soleil, in summer... with a fondue and swiss white wine... Watch out though, book before, get cash (no... read more

We booked a table for 5 people to eat the fondue because this place is often full and without reservation it could be impossible to eat there. However, even if this place is know as one of the best restaurant in Geneva serving fondue and it is always crowded, it's not that special. The fondue is just ok, better than... More

Popped in here during a one night stopover in Geneva, whilst staying at an airport hotel. Fondue was very good, penne pasta also got good feedback. It's not flashy, more on the casual, traditional side of things. But clearly VERY well patronised by the locals. And I can see why, if I lived nearby I'd come here quite frequently.

Went here on the suggestion of our hotel. - We asked for somewhere local, and they were very quick to answer with "Cafe du Soleil" :) We (2 of us) shared cheese fondue and a salad. - For us, it was enough food, as the cheese is very filling. I've had fondue before at Lake Louise, but this fondue was... More

Me and my husband went there to have fondue, but we didn't know much about it. The waiter explained to us patiently and recommended us which wine to go with fondue and side dish. Very friendly! Good atmosphere! We had steak and fondue, wine and desert. All together less than 60 franc. A very good price compared with those restaurant... More

We had a great steak and a salad with chicken livers. We also tried the local speciality called malakoff - not my thing, but great to try. All with a nice bottle of local wine. Fondue looked very nice there too, just not the weather for it.

My best friend took me to this restaurant to introduce me to a fondue. It was an amazing experience. Great service. Highly recommend.

You've got to have the fondue - so tasty - and a salad - and a Swiss wine - and of course a dessert. All wonderful quality and extra special staff who spoke good English - a bonus. What a great night!

I was amazed how busy this restaurant in mid-August; my friend was leaving Geneva and wanted to try the cheese Fondue. The fondue was good but not exceptional; one of my friends opted for a Malakoff (grilled cheese on toast) which was delicious. I must confess that I prefer a fondue in winter. The service was very friendly in spite... More

After living an ocean apart for 24 years, we re-connected in Geneva, and our first dinner together was at Cafe du Soleil, Geneva's oldest restaurant. For our second anniversary, we had lunch on the terrace. She had crevettes; I had marinated poulet. Both excellent. Of course, we shared the profiteroles. Definitely our favorite place to eat in Switzerland, but be... More
