I had dinner with my girlfriend at Cheval Blanc and we were both amazed by the exquisite dinner. I had Crab cake with goose foie gras as starter and suckling lamb leg as main course. Moreover, they served us small complimentary appetisers while waiting our orders and small complimentary desserts. Wine was also great, I ordered different wines by the... More

We went on a nice evening and spend round 600 CHF at Le Cheval Blanc. The interior is top notch for an old fashioned restaurant. The service is very "stiff" and a little inhuman, but they do their best in serving the old fashioned way. The food however is a small drama, it is good for a normal restaurant, but... More

A lunch in what is probably the best restaurant in Basel is something I always look forward to. The place is impressively classy, and the view on the Rhine is breathtaking. I was rather satisfied with their business lunch, that offered a great discovery for the money. The variety of the dishes, or the originality of the presentation is very... More

It is certainly posh, individualized service, overlooking the Rhine. Food is good but not great in our view! For the price you pay, we expected a "wow" effect with every dish we ordered - but we experienced it with maybe 1-2 dishes out of 4. We are vegetarian (eat fish) - so maybe meat eaters have a better luck at... More

My daughter summed it up best: "I did not know that food can taste as good"! In addition, the service is clearly the best in town and above most Michelin stared restaurants we have been too. Go for the third *!

When you go to a two Michelin star restaurant you know what you are getting in to. You expect excellent service, food, ambience and experience. I can easily state that all were evident in our visit to Chebal Blanc. By ordering the full menu we were first treated with some additional starters to whet our appetite. The chef was more... More

Excellent food with a very innovative touch. Not exactly the place for the great meatlover as rather small portions.

Cheval Blanch is the best formal restaurant in Basel. A 12-table gem in Basel's best hotel (Les Trois Rois), it is worthy of the two stars bestowed upon it by Michelin's Red Guide, and is worth the two-plus hours of sit-down time and the hefty tab at meal's end (533 Euros for two persons, including tip, deux coups to start,... Elegant dining room, courteous multilingual service, outstanding food and presentation. Two "amuse-bouche," gourmandise after the meal, hot towels before dining, excellent cheese tray. We had the full menu, with venison main course, foiegras appetizer, cheese and dessert, all great, as were the wines (by the glass). Not cheap, but worth it.

We traveled to celebrate our 25th anniversary and chose Cheval Blanc for our special dinner. It was magical. The restaurant is small (maybe 10 tables) and everything about the meal makes you feel like royalty from the moment you check in until you leave. It is expensive, but well worth it. Our food was wonderful, including a number of complimentary... More
