Wow!

All products made on the premises, including ice cream, cakes, quiches, pizza, bread. I've now been twice and it is terrific. Portions are generous and in summer it is truly wonderful to sit in the square under a sunshade, surrounded by birds, 200-300 year old buildings and just relax. Hard to... read more

OK, it's no secret that bred back home in the US is not the world's best, actually far from it - talking store-bought. The Swiss have excellent bread, a plethora of different sorts, with varieties galore. So you're already amazed - but Bio Andreas is a bakery of a special kind. Bread simply can't be any better. Wholewheat creations of... More

Demeter is a process that goes beyond organic, working with the farm according to moon cycles and preferences for the animals and plants. Put this into baked goods, and you get a very special experience. The pastries are rather heavy - which makes them filling - and delicious. My favorites are the Schnecke (snail - pastry, not animal), pizza (small,... More

We love this bakery because it has all organic products, it uses different kinds of wheat (white, whole) and other grains for their products and they have amazing products - both salty and sweet. They can cater for events too (same food as displayed) and we've used their services twice and it's been spot on. You can buy to go... More

Their soups, bread and pizzas are all delicious, as are their teas and coffees. The vegetable pizzas are heaping with fresh vegetables. Save room for one of their delicious pastries.

Was introduced to this cafe/bakery by a friend on a day out in glorious weather. Huge portion of vegetable strudel with fresh salad and bread basket, plus a coffee, all for CHF 20 and I did not eat again that day! You order at the counter inside, pay and receive a chit. They then bring your food to you outside... More

Tasty savoury and sweet tarts and pies, extra large cups of coffee or home-made ice-T in a beautiful ambiance and you're set to enjoy this outstanding bakery. The breads have a home-made taste which makes you feel you're getting healthier by the bite and still it's most delicious. It's a self-service café and when it's not too cold, most people... More

My friends and I went here for lunch today and we had a great time. The food was very nice and the ambiance was fantastic. We sat outside on the courtyard just a few blocks away from the Marktplatz. A great time had by all and certainly a repeat.

For those who like wholesome, good food this is a must. Only organic ingredients are used, the breads and sweets are backed in wood stoves and hand made. Specially nice: The winded "provoncale" bread and the almond croissant.

The Holzofenbäckerei offers very good quality bread. In addition they bake also pizza in a non italtian style and make excellent Schoggiweggli. The prices are higher than average but the quality of the bread is also higher than average. In summer one can sit outside in the cafe and enjoy the yard. A good place to visit for making a... More
