Lovely food at Gundeldingerhof, I have eaten here a couple of times and have not been disappointed. Friendly staff and a menu that changes with the season. The chef is British and makes amazing food, I just need to come back and try the the 'surprise' menu. Prices are typically 'Basel' but it's nice to come here for a treat... More

Had a company dinner and didn't think much of the interior. Was therefore pleasantly surprised by the food. Everything was excellent, the starter, main course and desserts and wines. The neighborhood is a bit off (which is pretty much my experience in all cities behind the train station), but don't let that scare you. Well worth a visit.

Went here with a guest who had been waiting for a while to try it out again. We got a table near the kitchen - maybe you need to get there earlier. The menu is short, but that is a good point, since you are assured that meals are prepared to a quality that you can expect at these prices.... More

Forget eoipso, take the suprise menu at the gundeldingerhof and ask the sommelière Ms. baumgartner for her input -- you won't be disappointed. We loved the relaxed bistro athmosphere and really really enjoyed the more than excellent food. Culinary surprises with every course, excellent wines to accompany and complement them. Weekday evening may be preferable: it was not noisy at... More

I prefer the Gundeldingerhof for business lunches. The food tastes always good, the staff is friendly and it isn't that crowded. They change the lunch menus and so it doesn't get boring. If you like a romantic ambience maybe this restaurant is not the right one for you. The style of furniture is simple and tidy.

Excellent food with impeccable service at this hidden gem - so hidden you could walk past it without knowing it was there. The menu is quite short and comprises a mixture of seasonal dishes and old favourites, all impeccably prepared and served. You can pay an awful lot more in Basel for a poorer experience.

Due to a foodintolerance I asked for a special saladdressing (only oil with lemon juice) as I do in every restaurant. I didn't get it. It was the only restaurant I've visited where I didn't get it. Beside this problem the food was quite good, very special. But the restaurant is very loud when full with people.

The Dinner that I had here was by far the best meal that I had during my three days in Basel. The steak was cooked just as I like it, and it was tender and tasty. Trams 10 & 11 stop at Peter Merian House, and then you can walk across the pedestrian bridge which takes you over the railway... More

Just have to keep on going back to Gundeldingerhof again and again. The food by the British chef deserves all its just awarded 13 Gault Millau points - if not more. In my book the best food I have tasted in a very long time! Adding to this, the interior of the restaurant is of a low key elegance. The... More
