Looking down, it seems that it has all been said before but what to add? We have just had our third meal here and best yet. From the very warm welcome, through the delicious courses and ending with the home made chocolate it's all superb. To anyone who is wondering whether or not to go, just go - you should... More

My friend and I popped in for a drink in the evening and it is a lovely pub. We didn't eat but the food being served looked lovely and it was very busy....always a good sign! The outside garden seating is lovely, you can even relax in a hammock!!

My wife and I dined here for a romantic night out and the food was just wonderful. We had Olives (Ginormous and incredible) and Pork Cracking for a small starter followed by the Rib of beef for 2, which was amazing and serves with a delicious white bean puree and the biggest chips I have ever seen. The food was... More

Our three course lunch was excellent - obviously prepared by a talented chef and modestly priced. The first class service made this a very enjoyable experience.

Very good food and wine - tip: leave space for dessert. We've been twice this year (second time for a birthday lunch celebration with 7 friends). It is definitely worth the 2 hour journey from London.

Great food, very friendly and knowledgable staff. Quick service even though they were very busy. Definitely one of the best pubs in the Basingstoke area for food.

I wont go into the detail of what we ate but it was simply superb. Spanish theme. One of the best meals I've eaten in the world. Wonderful service, great timing and perfect knowledge of what we were eating. More expensive than the indicative pricing. Who's going to look for Preston Candover?

My wife and I dined here yesterday evening for our wedding anniversary; we were thinking of trying JSW and The Black Rat, however, my wife booked Purefoy as a surprise. It didn't disappoint. My wife is vegetarian so the waiter explained what was available on the menu and what could be done off menu which was great and provided a... More

I don't usually review an eatery after the first visit unless one, it is exceptional, or two, it is abominoble. From the five stars I gave it one can guess which it is on this occasion. I look at all three things when I eat out - the service, the food and the ambience. I won't say that the ambience... More

What an amazing place. From the minute you walk into the minute you leave you know this place is special. Friendly and attentive front of house team, creative menus, excellent wine list and wonderful food. It's hard to believe this is near Basingstoke!
