The best chocolates in Perugia!

I've followed the growth of this "ciocolateria"since they began as a very small business many years ago. Quality products find an appreciatve public even in hard times and they deserve their success and international reputation (being close to the University for Foreigners) .

Lovely chocolate shop next to the basketball court. Silky rich hot chocolate with perfect balance of flavor, cream & sweetness. Tried 2 varieties of dark chocolate truffles. Both were great. A little disappointed with the dark chocolate gelato. Dark in color but light in flavor with a hints of burnt taste.

Some of us only go to Italy to eat ice cream....others go because the people watching is so magnificent....a few go for the culture...if your interest is the ice cream read on please. A few years ago allegedly for spiritual reasons, I made a walking pilgrimage from the UK to Rome. The actual motivator to make this journey was to... More

The gelato was so cold, so thick, so creamy..... just right. I chose fruit flavors - raspberry and cantaloupe - so perfect in color too! My husband had a scoop of both rich deep chocolate and a coffee flavor - he was raving. A small place, charming, just off, well behind, the beaten path. Try their homemade chocolates too! Nothing... Had the most beautiful gelato here and could have had another three straightway. The woman behind the counter was helpful and gave great recommendations. I ended up going for spicy chocolate, nocciola and pistachio. Yum!

I had the chance to visit the shop located in via Pinturicchio (near the University for Foreigners) so my note concerns only that shop, not the other in via Bonazzi, that I had not the chance to visit. The shop specialises in chocolates and ice cream, and it is really worth a visit ! Several different types of chocolate pralines... More

We originally went to Cioccolateria Augusta Perusia to buy some chocolates as a gift for friends, but the gelato was just too tempting to pass up. I had a cone with cioccolato fondente and cassata, and my wife had one with cioccolato-amarena (chocolate-cherry) and lemon. The flavors were all incredible! Possibly the best chocolate gelato we have ever tasted. The... More

This gelateria is also cioccolateria, the sign says all products made in house, so I had some expectation to the fullness of the taste of the chocolate ice cream. I was not disappointed. And the other ice cream types we had were just as wow. If we ever go back to Perugia we'll revisit.
