Osteria a Priori specialises in Umbrian food which is as good as it is simple. No frills dishes but fresh ingredients with a great taste leave you longing for more. The antipasti which included hand carved ham, salami and an assortment of cheese was a great start. The hand made pasta and roasted pork with truffles was memorable, too. We... More

This is the type of restaurant that I treasure. It is a wine shop with a dining area in the back at first glance. The wine list is Umbrian centric and they are more than willing to allow you to taste before purchasing. The menu covers the Umbrian classics and the food is well prepared. The menu was complemented with... More

We had a fantastic dinner here as part of our 4 day Food and Wine tour with Barbara from WineLinkItaly. Everything about it was exceptional, lots of wonderful food, all regional Umbrian food and Barbara was able to explain any background to what we were eating, or how it may have been prepared. We also had some lovely wine. Really... More

Simple and unpretentious, cheerful service, outstandingly good cooking with natural, organic ingredients, in the centre and at a reasonable price. Excellent wine too. It couldn't be better.

The challenge in Italy is how can you build on the historical excellence of the cuisine and somehow make it modern and surprising. A Priori has found a solution. The dishes are recognizable regional standards, but they are executed with a conscious flair and twist which makes this anything but another Umbrian osteria. Suddenly a peasant cuisine- burly and heavy... More

My hotel, Hotel Priori, across the street, recommended this place when I arrived late and tired one Friday night. Wow!! The casual recommendation turned out to be one of the best restaurants ever, anywhere, on every level. I ate here 3 days in a row. It specializes in local cuisine also in terms of locally sourced foods and I ate... More

My wife and I ate here twice in August, the first night they managed to squeeze us in upstairs without a booking, great local fare at very reasonable prices. We decided, after our meal at La taverna, to eat here again for our last night in Perugia. We ate downstairs next to their fantastic stock of wine, with a thunderstorm... More

Following positive feedback we resolved to eat here. We turned up at 7.30 on a Wednesday night in October to be told they were fully booked. Quickly we booked for Friday whilst they found us another restaurant to eat in and whistled up a taxi. On our return on Friday we appeared to be the only strangers in the place... More

We can only presume that the restaurant are writing their own reviews. After reading those on Tripadvisor we made a bee line for A Priori. We tried four different menu options. Ech unfortunetly was very poor. My wifes chicken was similar to that you would find in a poor chip shop. My authentic Umbrian soup had a distinctly worrying flavour.... More

We were in Perugia for a week and had both lunchand dinner at Osteria a Priori. There were no misses from any of our selections with the true standouts being an antipasti plate with cheeses, salami and other cured meats, a pasta dish with dark chocolate, scrambled eggs with black truffles, and an extremely light and mouthwatering Italian cheesecake topped...
