We took a tip from our hosts at La Cuccagna and had lunch at this atmospheric spot. Local eugebine food that was delicious. The platter I had of assorted specialties was outstanding. We were five for lunch and everyone was equally pleased. Eat here if you can!

Pro: central position in city center, good house wine ( vino della casa) Con: unfriendly owner, the special plate of Rei is is really disappointing( full of fried breads and pies) other dishes also are not delicious, so the reviews of most Italians are negative ( poor or terrible), I wonder why it has so many good reviews from non-Italians,... We were lucky to get a place at this ever busy restaurant, always a good sign when it is full of locals. The seating area in the basement is wonderfully atmospheric. But it is the food that does the talking. We had the platter thats is comprised of about 10 different items, both veg and non-veg. All were great. Good... More

Interesting place in the center of Gubbio. Found from tripadvisor and was full when we got there. We had to wait a bit, but finally we made it. Atmosphere is like to go back in time, even if the restaurant is quite small. They have also some table available in the square outside. Dishes are made mostly by typical and... More

stopped for lunch after a morning of sight-seeing in Gubbio. Opted for the host platter (pictured) which was perfect for 1 hungry person for lunch. Largely antipasti with a few added extras. my friend had steak, which was ok (slightly too rare and firm in places). Other friends had the King platter which is the host platter with an added... Interesting place for an outdoor lunch in the (largely) traffic free square, with specialiy being akin to tapas - simply order a selection for the appropriate number, and frankly two portions for three people is ample. I would certainly go again, pretty good value for money.

Very ordinary - not much money spent on the quality of the ingredients - a sort of pile it high place. All I can say was it was filling but nothing stood out or was very tasty. A sort of bland mezze or pastiche of mediocre antipasti ....don't know what all the hype is about? Do I really want to... More

I lived in Gubbio, Italy for just shy of a year and L'Osteria dei Re was unmatched in Gubbio, Umbria, and Italy as a whole. The owner takes his role as l'oste very seriously and is clearly dedicated to excellence. His staff is as kind and enthusiastic as the proprietor. The food, especially the 'crescia' and the famed 'Piattone del... More

This is a small simple osteria in the centre of Gubbio, the enchanting medieval town near Perugia, in Umbria, Italy. There are few dishes in the menu, all typical from the area, and the choice for non meat eaters is very limited. However the few dishes are very interesting and tasty. I know because between the four of us, we... More
