Good Local Place

We ate here for lunch on the recommendation of a local shopkeeper. We were running late (after 2:30pm) and they kept the kitchen open so we could order.Very nice people and the food was excellent.

Been here for dinner, this is s local place in the center of Gubbio. We were two families with kids, absolutely no problem with that. Very kind approach from the waiters, they explained us the menu giving advices on the specials. This place makes their own pasta, so is something you have to try, we had the "cappelletti" or tortellini,... More

When we got home from our two-week grand tour of Italy, the four of us wrote secret lists of our three favorite restaurants. Upon comparing the lists, Picchio Verde appeared on all four! We thank them heartily for their fine cuisine and attentive service. (See if you can steal their recipe for gnocchi. It melts in your mouth.) --The Fraser... More

Over two days spent in Gubbio in early March, this was probably the highlight of my eating in the town. On a Monday evening, Gubbio seemed de-populated, but the Picchio Verde was doing a deservedly good trade, with a steady stream of locals and a very few tourists, all of who were welcomed warmly and left contented. This doesn't aspire... More

We arrived at quite a late hour on a cold and drizzly February evening in the seemingly deserted streets of Gubbio. We opened the door and the place was buzzing. Our waitress was wonderful and her knowledge of wines was laudable. We decided to go with her recommendation and were very pleasantly surprised. We ordered meat and were given complimentary... More

At the recommendation of a friend we had lunch at this restaurant while visiting Gubbio. It was such a nice surprise. We had the daily special for E15 each which included meat and bread, lasagna, salad, pork chops cooked in the fireplace in our dining room, water, coffee and wine. The staff spoke English and were so attentive.

Both my Italian travel book and a local recommended this restaurant for lunch. I went here for lunch with a couple of friends. We had the tourist menu for 15€ each. It sounds cheesy, but we were very impressed with the food. It consisted of antipasto, pasta, a meat dish with side, glass of wine and 1/2 litre bottled water... More

A solid family restaurant with honest food and open fireplace cooking. I had pasta with hare as starter and bistecca as main course. Really good, honest food on a Sunday night. My wife had a mozarella salat and agnello/lamb. Local Wines per glass were good quality and good recommendations. Do not expect fancy service and design chic furniture. To be... More

We dined early on Sunday evening, six adults and four children, the waitress, spoke great English, which made it easy to order, advised the touristic menu at 15 euros which included wine and water, she said we could add dishes or replace dishes, what she didn't explain was that if we added anything it was not reflected in the removed... We ate here on a Wednesday evening and were first through the door, the service was excellent, the menu reasonably priced, with fresh pasta and a choice of sauces for the children. my wife and I opted for the 28€ degustation menu! we left very full, amazed at the prices. The restaurant filled up quickly, the open fire doubled up... More
