Solid Local Food

I went for Sunday Pranzo. Inside with the AC on was a beautiful setting. I was the only non-Italian there. The food was well prepared and the family who staffs the place were very attentive. It's up the way from Piazza San Ruffino. Grilling is their specialty.

We regularly visit Assisi and have been eating in this family run restaurant for many years. The restaurant speciality is grilled meats which are cooked on an open grill in the restaurant. The menu has hardly changed over the years but the simple quality and excellent service make this one of the best, and reasonably priced, restaurants in Assisi.

This restaurant is a family run business, established in 1954. We first visited in 2010, finding the restaurant by pure accident as it is located down a laneway in Assisi itself. We visited again in May 2015 and once again were not disappointed. The staff are polite and courteous and grilling food such as rabbit and pork is a speciality.... More

We stopped here while visiting assisi. I was served an excellent tender rabbit in a delicious garlic sauce. The sausages were also good, as was the lamb. Very enjoyable lunch

We went here on a Friday night without a reservation and they were gracious enough to accommodate us despite a very large reserved group arriving shortly after us. We were seated next to the open grill and I was a little warm but I also was able to engage the lovely old woman (surely part of the family ownership) who... More

The restaurant is small and cozy, tucked away in a corner down the end of a small alley. There are a few tables outside. Inside features an amazing brick barrel vault ceiling and an open fireplace that is actively used in the food preparation. While grilled meats are the specialty, there are many other options to choose from if meat... More

I have just returned from an extensive trip through Italy where I had many unique dinning experiences. However, my friends and I still agree that the best meal and atmosphere happened on the Tratorria da Erminio patio at the end of their charming Assisi ally. The rounds of food were seamless and delicious, each new selection eliciting sighs of pleasure... More

We were roaming about Assisi and stepped into this small, cozy trattoria. Meats are grilled on an open flame. It's small, out of the way, and a place where locals eat on small coin. I enjoyed the very simple cooking, grilled meats, and pasta. It took a while for them to come to our table and begin serving us. So... More

Nice atmosphere and it was evident that a lot of people read about it in Rick Steve's book ( only 4 different families in here and 3 were American). I have a tortellini in white sauce with sausage that was adequate but for me, nothing extra special. My husband had a local dessert cake (Known from Spoleto I think) that... More

I have lived in the area for many years and Da Erminio is a place I love. This gem, tucked away on a side street in the upper part of town, has been run by the same family for 60 years - yes, 60! - and these people clearly love what they do. They offer classic Umbrian fare and the... More
