We visit Assisi frequently and eat almost no where else. The proprietors, Romina and Stelvio are most friendly and accommodating and the food and wine are great at prices that always make me owner how they make a profit. The Fettucine with wild boar is better than any boar and pasta dish I have had elsewhere. The gnocchi with Gorgonzole... More

Arrived right when they opened at 7pm. Atmosphere quaint and comfortable. Ordered bruschetta (a variety plate) that was very good. One of them was radicchio with honey in the sauce- very different but tasty. (5 euro) Our 1st plate was a pasta noodle in white cream sauce with black pepper that was very tasty (5 euro). Finally the grilled pork... More

Our accommodation recommended this place and we visited on a very quiet Sunday evening, with only one other table of people in the restaurant we had a doubts. If you like cheese you must order the cheese pasta, it is the very best that I have any had and my whole family thoroughly enjoyed all of the food we had... More

We were a large group (18) celebrating the Feast of St Francis of Assisi. The restaurant put on a wonderful meal for us and we're extremely attentive. Our table was set beautifully and we received a warm welcome. Thanks to the great staff and lovely food a great night was had by all. We were so appreciative that they accommodated... More

Slightly off the beaten track this restaurant is well worth the slight effort to get there. Friendly service, great food and pleasant (indoor only) made our visit well worthwhile. Definitely go back.

It's not easy to find "La Locanda del Podesta" but it's worth it! the restaurant is in town in a small street not far from the main Basilica. We had dinner there and it was fabulous. Try the whole experience: primo, secundo and contorni with umbrian wine and you won't regret it!

My husband and I were looking for a restaurant for lunch and consulted Rick Steves' guidebook. We were searching for a place with a view. Luckily it rained & the restaurant we had chosen closed its terrace. So we went on to our 2nd choice and Locanda del Podesta was amazing. No, it didn't have a terrace and a view,... More

4 diners, 3 of us did a truffle dish, the 4th did the umbrian sausages...and we had delicious wine pairings. The sausages were the best we've had in 10 days in Italy, the truffle dishes were rich and delicious. Delightful service and great location just short walk up hill from the Basilica of St. Francis.

If one has gone around Italy you can discover the variety and differing food even if a non-Italian is used to calling it all Pasta. This restaurant had us eat some of the best ravioli and meat I have eaten ever with exquisite red local wine. A must for a hungry pilgrim!
