My husband and I were looking for a restaurant for lunch and consulted Rick Steves' guidebook. We were searching for a place with a view. Luckily it rained & the restaurant we had chosen closed its terrace. So we went on to our 2nd choice and Locanda del Podesta was amazing. No, it didn't have a terrace and a view,... More

4 diners, 3 of us did a truffle dish, the 4th did the umbrian sausages...and we had delicious wine pairings. The sausages were the best we've had in 10 days in Italy, the truffle dishes were rich and delicious. Delightful service and great location just short walk up hill from the Basilica of St. Francis.

If one has gone around Italy you can discover the variety and differing food even if a non-Italian is used to calling it all Pasta. This restaurant had us eat some of the best ravioli and meat I have eaten ever with exquisite red local wine. A must for a hungry pilgrim!

After an amazing visit within Assisi it was lunch time. We got to The restaurant at the end of the lunch period. We had reservations so it made it easier. Not much English spoken but enough to get by. The dishes were all Umbrian and oh boy did thiey hit it out of the park! The pasta, appetizers, and main... More

The waiter was a charming young man who spoke good English. he guided us to excellent menu choices (one of us is vegetarian), the food was excellent, the house wine perfectly acceptable and inexpensive, and the chocolate soufflé for dessert was to die for.

Tipical restaurant in a tipical ambient, all made of stone. Excellent quality/price ratio, dishes of the tradition.

A delightful eatery tucked into the hill. Up the street from the Basilica is this small place serving wonderful food.

We were lucky enough to drop in and get a table. There are only 14 or so tables and many folks were turned away. Make a reservation if you want to eat here. There was one waiter and he covered the whole room and did it with style. We had the gnocchi and the tagliatelle pasta and the meat from... More

We found a good place, the waiter is polite and efficient! Ask him for a good wine. Taste the tipical food and choose this one instead of Camino Vecchio :( He offered us Limoncello at the end.

A very nice restaurant very close to the "Basilica di S. Francesco" just in the centre of Assisi. We ate really good typical local dishes, and it was really not expensive. the ambience and the owners are really nice. Everything was perfect!
