Really good food

Assisi is a wonderful and peaceful pave to visit. And this Ristorante adds to the experience of being in such a holy place. Food was great. Not expensive. Service excellent.

Located (almost hidden away) inside the central historical area of Assisi, Ristorante Grotta Antica is a small, family-run restaurant serving Umbrian specialties. We were running late for lunch and the usual crowd of patrons had already departed. No matter. We were greeted with a friendly smile and offered any table of our choosing. We started with an antipasti and then... More

Three of us visited this restaurant for lunch after reading about it in a couple of guidebooks. It's a small restaurant, a little difficult to find but well worth the effort. We were first served bread with flavoured oil for dipping along with a litre of white wine. I had the chicken in a lemon sauce served with spinach and... More

Brilliant small cosy family run restaurant in the heart of the village of Assisi. The menu offers ample choice for typical hearty Italian meals and the price and very friendly service is first rate. Its a real value for money place to eat in Assisi. We had several meals there during our extended stay in Assisi and were always welcomed... More

Once I found this restaurant in Assisi, I stuck to it for the rest of my stay. I felt like I was sitting at home, in my mother's kitchen, which, to me, is priceless, especially when you are a woman travelling alone. The owner is a warm-hearted lady who comes and greats all of her customers in a nice way... More

Don't be put off by the cheesy touristy draw sign pointing to the restaurant. This is literally hole in city wall trattoria with stone walls inside and out. When you are looking for the classic old world charm and experience, this is it. The food was unique and utterly delicious. Truffle spread bruschetta. The best lasagna anywhere (including my own... Our third visit and will continue to return. When you next visit Assisi be sure to have your dinner here. This is a true family run operation and you'll be treated as thus from the moment you arrive. The meals are in short terrific, wholesome, and great value. There is a real sense of atmosphere here that you won't find... More

It's in a vaulted cellar off the main busy area of town. We were trated to a free app of garlic toast with oil for dipping. More places should do this. We chose to try the tourist menu with a half liter of house red. Total cost was only 36 Euros. We had a nice veal scallpoini and roast potatoes,... More

This is my favourite restaurant in Assisi. It's very inexpensive, but the food and hospitality is second to none. As soon as you walk in you feel welcome and at home. Then when the food starts arriving your enjoyment increases!
