A typical trattoria worth the visit.

We came back here after many years. The atmosphere is nice and similar to a country pub or grub pub. The variety of food in offer is good although some dishes (meat ones) were a bit pricey compared to the quantity offered. Food is quite good anyway and local wine is good and cheap.

Wow- what a great lunch spot! We went to the top of the hill where St. Francis sojourned back in the day. After the hike this was the winning option that was close by (on the way down the hill) and unique and indigenous in terms of the cuisine offerings. You walk into a giant grill that makes their signature... More

The place is a nightmare to drive to at night. Google maps had it wrong and it was scary driving down pitch black tiny roads that seemed part of the forest. When we finally made it there, I was initially happy to see a line to order as I thought that meant that the good would be good. Sadly it... More

It was such a pleasure to return to this restaurant after several years and find everything the same – actually better. The restaurant is located just outside of Assisi and is really worth the trip. It is probably one of the best Cheap Eats in Italy. You are dining in converted livestock stalls with communal wood tables and graffiti walls... More

As horse stables go, this is a GREAT restaurant. Unigue wood fired preparation literally in centuries old horse stables. A must do when in Assisi.

The whole atmosphere thing is true, but only in winters. In summers, the menu is the same with the same prices, just that it is self service and the queue is half an hour long. I don't mind the self service too much, but please process the queue faster so that the friend queueing can be at the table. Simply... More

A friend of ours brought us up to this wonderful self-service restaurant. I guess we missed the lunch rush, because there were only a few tables there. I love how you grab a table cloth, silverware and glasses, oh and a basket of bread (as many slices as you want), and then pick where you want to eat. There was... More

Probably not for everyone, it's a community gathering spot and the atmosphere is reflective of that and makes no attempt to attract tourists interested in white-tablecloth dining. Therein lies its charm. The food is dependably good, the atmosphere can be boisterous and chaotic, but it will be perhaps the most genuine Italian meal in the most authentic rustic setting you... We had a good meal here, though perhaps not as good as all the reviews. We were here in the summer; I had not realized it was at a hotel and it was much brighter than I expected. No one really wants to sit near the heat in the summer! No reservations are accepted. This place features grilled meats and... More

Food, atmosphere, service, simplicity, authenticity, they blew our mind what else ask them more? To accept card? To repaint the guests "graffiti" on the walls? To have a till rather than hand writing the bill in a piece of paper? To buy new furniture? To ...? No, please don't do, don't kill your soul
